If you've ever sat in front of your manuscript and thought: "maybe I'm just not cut out to be a successful writer" this episode is for you. Today, Abbie and I are delving into not only what causes us to become discouraged as writers, but some of our best methods for overcoming negative thoughts that push us farther away from our writing goals. If you could use a burst of motivation, stick around - we've got your back.

Not me thinking the title said “Diagnosed as a Writer” and clicking on it immediately haha. Needless to say, I watched the whole thing.

My parents and sibling didn’t support me on my writing. They said I won’t be able to make it as writer. But thanks to Kate and Abbie I was able to write a book as a teen. I’m in the editing stage now so wish me luck. Btw you guys rock 🤘

I have been having this issue for a couple years. I was overflowing with ideas and inspiration and the world was a living painting, and then suddenly that left, and i have felt like i lost my touch, and i want to get better at my crafts and actually get that whole thing overflowing again and having the level of talent i want. i want it back. but it is hard to find it again. Everything you are saying makes sense. i just dont know how i got empty, and i really want to be refilled.

I hear you about the unloving part. Negative comparison can kill our book projects. I have written 12 books. I had to learn to love my own process and not compare myself to other authors.

As I like to say Life makes a Soul Stronger. It’s the challenges and the kind of character you choose to be when facing those challenges that make the sweet victories worth while. Your life is a story that you are writing and living, so make it a good one cause it matters ✍️🌈👍

Thank you SO much for pointing out the power of perspective aspect! I think a lot of people fall into the trap of seeing someone else on the mountain top and being tempted to skew that into a negative thing. Like the mountain top isn't big enough or attainable for everyone. To everyone watching this who is struggling with those feelings, let THIS be your "ah-ha moment"!

Thanks, you guys are great. I especially appreciated the advice to focus on what you are writing *right now* and not think of what you have to write later, Respect the Moment!

This really applies to me. I’ve struggled with getting my writing Instagram account off the ground for months, and now I’m seeing growth. But it took a very long time but I’m glad I persevered through it! This was an excellent podcast and I take a lot of inspiration from Kate and Abby. Thank you for sharing 💛 (for those of you who may be curious, my insta is @j.v.montague)
