This was when church music actually moved your soul, and not just your hands.

There is something about the simplicity and direct to the point messages of these old songs that I can't describe but they're so beautiful. I don't know all of the new songs from these days and I've heard a few some of them they are nice but there was something rich ,soulful and Powerful ( Glory to God) about these old songs. They direct your mind to the one and only true and wise God. Thank you for sharing this song. I love all the different versions on KZbin such as the International Mass choir's version, the Kervy Brown & Full Gospel Holy Temple Mass Choir version they're all beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

I thank God for the up bringing of Holiness in the Baptist Church. The ministry that God had placed in there lives then kept me safe when the enemy came lurking. I thank god for them all. I wish that we could get back to these kind of days. God have mercy!

Evangelist Annie Mae Edwards (leader of this song) was one of those sanctified Holy church women who always had a good "general" voice for leading these Holiness songs. She never sang in the choir nor was she known for being a popular vocalist like the lead singers of the choir. We loved to hear her start one of these songs and she had a boat load of them.

My Lord! This takes me back to St. Stephen’s (St. Stephenson) 😊 COGIC at 189 South Birdneck Road in the Seatack section of Virginia Beach, Virginia where the pastor was Elder Thurlian Burden! The Organists were Deacon Ed Shaw, Evangelist Lillie Cornick, Sister Alice Waller and Superintendent Anthony “Chuck” Olds, Sr. It also reminds me of New Mount Olive “Mon Ollly” 😊 Missionary Baptist Church at 665 Fernwood Farms Road in the Dozier’s Corner section of Chesapeake, Virginia where the pastor was Rev. Willie Davis! Miss Goldie was the organist for Senior Choir! Zion was on fire in those days!

@Atldarknight Back in the day Ebenezer was THE sanctified Baptist church in Columbus, OH. Mrs. Brown was the pastors wife and minister of music. Unlike many musicians today. She sat up straight without bouncing and swaying all over the place. She played the devil out of that organ. It tickled me how she would tear the organ up without much facial expression. She could and did work the choirs too for many years.

I agree what happen to this kind of worship, I stopped going to church, all I heard was the organist is s beast, and they made fun of other musician, when I grew up in church our organist was also a professor at the university, and I never saw him putting anyone down, and he played pipe organ and the Hammond our church had both. He's dead but a great musician and didn't get a lot of money servant of GOD well done.

Sanctified simply means "Set apart" regardless of denomination. Pentecostal churches don't have the monopoly on sanctified. All churches are sanctified if God is the central focus
@Onlyone-m6f4 жыл бұрын
🙌🙌🙌.. Exactly. As the late Bishop Charles G. Hayes said,"You don't have to leave the Baptist church to be filled with the Holy Ghost." I grew up Baptist in MS and when the Holy Ghost moved He had his way. I'm COGIC now but still have my Baptist moments.
@CalledUntoHoliness4 жыл бұрын
@@Onlyone-m6f but you got to leave the baptist church to be saved because their doctrine is wrong. They have somethings right but they are way off in many other things.
