Yup Haim Saban an Sandy Frank butchered so much in these series. Like in Tekkaman blade they also got rid of a transgender character and made them a woman/hint at gay man? And Gel Sadra was just transformed into "Laughing boy" ... it was quite vile how the west erased LGBTQ+ representation from anime.

I think originally was a he (as a child), in some subtitles he/she is labeled as the "son of Dr. Pandora", but in the accelerated growing process, the male organ was eliminated and his/her appearance was more like a woman and also the mannerism (but the voice was of a man) So yeah, as adult maybe was a combination of both (man and woman), but in fact sometimes as adult he/she still acted like a child (because the artificial growing process was not perfect)

We don't know about that. Berg Katze was created by fusing the embryos of fraternal twins while still in their mother's womb. Basically, we're talking about a brother and a sister born in the same body. As an adult, Katze was able to switch genders at will and therefore could choose to be either a man or a woman. Regarding Sammie Pandora/Gel Sadra, we know nothing about her gender, but she's probably female. In Japanese, they don't use personal pronouns (he/she) when talking about her, and she's always referred to as Dr. Pandora's child. Child (ko/kodomo in Japanese), a gender neutral term. Not "son" (musuko) nor "daughter" (musume). The only bit of information that we have about her is that Sôsai X abducted her because she had special chromosomes that allowed the accelerated aging process. I think her tall stature and masculine voice are the side effects of said aging process. It should be noted that Katze was initially supposed to be a woman passing for a man in front of her troops. My guess is that the screenwriters recycled that scrapped idea with Gel Sadra. *ETA Apparently, according to the official Japanese sources, Gel Sadra is indeed an intersex mutant, who has both male and female chromosomes. Which is why Sôsai X abducted little Sammie Pandora in the first place.

Saban simply bought the rights to the animation to air in America, basic story line was tweaked to avoid copyright infringement. Gatchaman was the original series. In America there was battle of the planets Gatchaman (original / ken ) Adaptations Battle of the planets / mark G-force /ace goodheart Eagle Riders /Hunter Harris Eagle riders and g force were by far the worst adaptations. Battle of the planets was the best and the very first adaptation, the story line was tweaked for America audience, no cursing No sexual innuendo Zoltar was male unlike berg Katse who was both sexes
