Dear Saurabh ji I am an avid fan of your channel and presentations. However your coverage on Maniram and T N Singh and recent election leaves me disappointed as major facts and therefore assessments give a flawed presentation. Since late Shri T N Singh was my father and being his youngest son it is incumbent on me to state certain facts. 1) my father joined the national movement under gandhi ji in 1921 alongwith Lalbahadur shastri Algu Rai shastri, Kamlapati Tripathi and C B Gupta and many others and suffered the worst at the hands of the british regime. I am only pointing out the errors which you need to note and correct your impressions and presentations. 2)After the independence at tge prodding of Nehru ji my father relinquished the National herald where he was the General Manager to accomodate feroze Gandhi who was also his good friend as well as Indira ji husband. 3) In 1952 TNS defeated swami nityanand a hindu mahasabha candidate and in 1957 he defeated Ram Manohar Lohiya ji but in 1958 he had to resign from the lok sabha and move to Planning Commission again at the behest of Nehru ji and persuation from Lal bahadur Shastri ji. 4) After Nehru Shastri ji took him as his Industries Minister and in 1964 he was elected to the Rajya Sabha and again in 1970 he was elected to the Rajya Sabha, so when he was chosen to lead the Samyukta Vidhayak Dal( SVD) and not the 'Sanyukta vikas Dal' as claimed by you he was already a Old Congress M P. In 1970 he agreed to Yogi Avaidyanaths invitation to Maniram because it was already vacant and he would not have request any one to vacate a seat and get elected therefrom. He belonged to the old school of politics and expected the SVD to fight the elections rather than TNS of Old Congress ! At Maniram the SVD or the political thought of a viable honest opposition to the dictatorial Indira regime lost the election more than TNS of the Old Congress ! Again, without commenting on the going ons during tge election both at the SVD end as well as Congress (I) i can only say that he coukd got himself elected as an MLC after the loss even and continued to be the CM and the SVD could have survived Indira onslaught if the constituents of SVD particularly Charan Singhs BKD and SSP and Old Congress had stuck together. The entire course of indian political history could have changed !! TNS ministry resigned in March 1971 on the floor of the house and in April beginning Kamlapati ministry took office. Why both Yogi Adityanath and His deputy chose to get elected as MLCs and not face tge hustings is any bodys mguess ! 5) After the emergency in 1975 he was an important leader og the Janata Party and in 1977 he was chosen as the Governor of West Bengal in which post he remained till October 1981. He was sent to West Bengal in 1977 by Moraji Desai and NOT Charan Singh as claimed by you ! ( In fact many say that it was Charan Singhs BKD which did not give enough support in Maniram but it should remain a moot point ) 6) lastly, i would like strongly object to the similarity sought to be drawn of Jaitleys election from Amritsar in 2014 with Maniram of 1970 ! Victory of SVD and TNS would have changed the way we look at politics these days, whereas Amritsar did not affect BJPs victory march. TNS sought to fight the election in an honest way whereas Yogi Avaidyanath wanted to fight as he had always in his own way, namely ensure that strong arm methods were used to keep at bay the minorities and backwRd classes from voting and when my father did not agree to this the Mahant was aghast ! The minorities and the backward classes voted in huge numbers in a voting opportunity which they had not seen for years and perhaps decades ! No wonder Ramkrishna Dwivedi got 33,000 votes against TNSs 17,000 !! This riposte has become very long but i had no other option and hope you and the readers will forgive me for the same, for I felt it was essential for all to know the facts. Hi Saurabh....It was quite an informative episode. But I reckon the petition against the T N singh's appointment as the cm for not being a member of the legislature was not filed by Ram Prakash Gupta. It was in fact filed by Har Sharan Verma. The only connection that Ram Prakash Gupta had with T N singh's appointment as the chief minister was that it's he himself who was the second person to be apointed the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh without being a member of the legislature after T N Singh.
