The moral/ conclusion is this- the man had given the 1000 usd to the girl, which meant it was spent on a good deed. So by the condition of the will he will be getting 50000 usd. But he sacrificed it by telling a lie (thereby tearing up the envelope) that he spent it on race, gambling etc. so that the amount can be given to the lady.
