Kahlenberg T4 Ship Horn! Louder than Any Train Horn! 260lbs of Bronze!

The Kahlenberg T4 is a fairly large ship horn. Weighing in at almost 260lbs it’s defiantly not easy to get around. This horn can be heard aboard the S.S. Badger! This is one of Kahlenbergs larges production multi chime horns. The size 4 power chambers are the largest in the line up with the exception of a vary rare size 5 that was a concept/experimental size. This ship horn was sold in January 1973 making it 49 years old at the time of this videos upload.

A steam boat restoration crew near me has the same exact horn on their tug boat and it’s beautiful in person! Good purchase! Love that sound!

I thought the t3 was good for hockey games but jeez! I guess u can use the whalers/canes horn as a comparison since u said it was the q4 minus 1 bell. Sounds like the utica comets goal horn but a lot more thicc and low pitched. Beautiful sound

I hear that! I worked for Ingram barge for 7 years and always loved the horns. One of the boats I was on for quite a while had a Q4 on it. It was a beast

@@TheHornKing I used to live along the Hudson River in NY State, occasionally there would be a tugboat in the fog with quite an amazing Kahlenberg on her. That combined with the distant sound of EMDs in the engine room on a foggy night was quite a treat!

Your T-4 is a titan! And your not wrong on loudness ship horns are often in the 147 to 153 dB range I also like the lake and distance tests, And I hope to see you honk your locomotive horns there also like your various Leslies and Nathans.

Thanks man! It is a pretty sweet horn. I have thought about blowing a few there. I’ll probably picked a few select Horns to take over there and blow. Got to be careful at that spot though haha. There are a bunch of multi million dollar homes just outside of the frame and it’s in the city limits. Should be able to get in and out pretty fast though hah!

I've actually seen and heard a Kahlenberg F-3 on locomotive before. It must have been a placeholder because I can tell it wasn't made for that train.

Could you by chance get a T4A? These whistles were just installed on the Spirit class vessels for BC Ferries. Would love to hear them in a static environment with no outside noise

@@Koeni_Nick13 Yes it is. Kahlenberg is pretty consistant with their T series horns. The T-4A mimics the KDT-123 and also the T-3, and the T-3A mimics the D-2 but has one extra pitch.

I thought the same thing for a while, Q4 is a 4 chime horn, the T4 is a 3 chime horn, the horn on badger is a 3 chime The forth "chime" on the Badger is it's DVE-300 steam horn
