Congrats Kahuku on the huge victory. Year in year out Kahuku always got plenty of talent, glad to see this victory. Kahuku probably got the highest concentration of Samoans and Tongans in the country. They're a pretty small area too so it's amazing how much talent they produce.

@@calwatch1496 Yeah, I know Kahuku has a very long winning streak vs Hawaii teams. They now got to go out of state to try to up their game. As good as Kahuku is, I thought they were crazy for taking on the #1 and #3 teams in the country on back to back weekends. Can't imagine how good Mater Dei is, though they had a fairly close game against Centennial, which is also one of the top teams in the country.

I remember reading an article a few years back and Hawaii as a state was around #10 per capita at producing football talent. I can't remember if it was NFL or college D1 players but that tells you something right there.

@LukevannonVeez-qk9mo it's a public school. Only the people in the district that go to that school. It's also in a remote area so they rarely can get any transfers from other districts. On the other hand SJB is a private school and they can recruit.

This was a fun game! And the end was CRAZY, refs running of the field because of angry Bosco fans 😂 some people were even being threatened by Bosco fans. The whole Bosco crowd was booing when Kahuku was during there chant at the end. But none of that stopped Kahuku 💪🏻

I always say "iron sharpens iron." When Kahuku played Mater Dei before, they were exposed to a greater level of speed than what they normally experienced. That prepared them for Bosco. I wouldn't be surprised if Kahuku wins state.

@@Ffollies yessir…if you watch the movie “When The Game Stands Tall” it’s about De La Salle HS and their unprecedented undefeated streak, n many more things…but Bellevue HS, the same HS Budda Baker n Myles Jack came from, that school ended the streak in 04, they played great teams back then like dem loaded Long Beach Poly teams, dem folks ran SoCal while NorCal was De La Salle

@@DLokes0819 Even being from Hawaii I remember both DLS and LB Poly. They both came to Hawaii in the early 2000s to play the top 2 teams here, Kahuku and St. Louis. LB Poly blew out Kahuku but the DLS/St. Louis game was fairly close, like 10 points. What I remember was DLS had some smaller linemen but they were so quick off the ball. I believe they had Maurice Jones-Drew at the time. Guess all good things must come to an end.

Good job Big RED. Cali teams will always dominate, the player pool is just too big. We've (Kahuku) been playing top teams since I was in HS, over 20 years and never won. @@malcindamiddle yup what really helped Kahuku was coach lee at st. louis retiring and coach passas the qb wizard moving to vegas. Both the coaches were the top of the food chain in Hawaii and everybody wanted to play for them. Alot of kahukus players would play for st. louis or another ILH school. Now that they are gone, alot of players are staying at Kahuku. Also post covid has helped too as players arent leaving to the mainland anymore. Kahuku has a good chance to do well for the next few years.

The powers at be at Bosco have some explaining to do about this loss. Bosco has so many starred players that they actually have them on the bench behind other starred players. This is literally one of the biggest upsets in high school football history.

@@TaxAssessorCollector yeah they've always had that fire in them but whats changed recently is they are keeping most of their small town talent. Historically they kept about 35-50% of their top talent in their town as the others would be poached by the private schools in Hawaii. Now they're keeping 80% mostly because the top coaches at private schools have retired. It gives them a chance against top teams. Blows my mind that their team is all homgrown talent in a town with a couple thousand people.

They play hard and they play together, they don’t need to recruit out of state or out of island, they cultivate this year after year. I was shocked by the results. Looking at the game, I knew it had to be Kahuku did a lot of things right and Bosco did a lot of things wrong. When you have 4 turnovers and not put a team away when clearly you are the better team you leave yourself open to being beaten. This was the case in this game.
