An old sailor's tip for a marine-quality "soft wash" (from PRACTICAL SAILOR magazine's Formula B): 1 qt hot water 2 tbs baking soda 2 tbs Borax 1 tbs trisodium phosphate (TSP) Increase the quantity, as needed. Your welcome :-)

Excellent demonstration, what strength mix was used for that? I normally use 14% diluted 3/1 could probably dilute a weaker mix.

I know there are a many variables but what should a customer expect from having their home soft washed if their home has excessive mold, mildew, etc on a three story house? What about excessive mold, etc on plastic gutters and vinyl siding?
@troy52924 жыл бұрын
I've had EXCESSIVE amounts of algae and mold on vinyl siding and soft washing will take it off. I seldom need to do a second application. I vary the strength of my mix depending on the amount of cleaning I need to do. I use a surfactant with a rinse aid and a catalyst that boost my mix. So it comes clean quickly, and rinses quickly without leaving any residue on windows or other surfaces.

I have a customer complaining about plant damage 2 weeks later I was just using my down streamer..I have to go and take a look later today at the plants..If the damage was caused by me can you tell me what I should expect to see?
@wazoogrand13 жыл бұрын
If you didn't rinse the plants ( shrubs, bushes, trees) before, during and after they will be defoliated. It does not kill them. You don't want your chemical to dry on them. RINSE...RINSE...RINSE!!! RINSE more then you think they need.

@creolecajun99884 жыл бұрын
I just have one question for you do you rinse after soft wash or no?
@troy52924 жыл бұрын
I rinse after 100% of my house washes when I soft wash. Even at the lowest strength you can harm plants, especially tender plants. I usually don't go under 0.75% SH and that could harm some types of plants. It doesn't require near the watering and rinsing that a roof wash does, but I'd still at least do a wet down before you start and a decent rinse of the plants after you rinse the siding. It may be overkill, but I've never killed a plant in 6 years of cleaning roofs and doing house washes.

Typically algae doesn't live in shaded areas.....that appears to be mildew/mold, which thrive on the north, northeast side of homes where moisture is present. Mildew will not grow in sunlight.

@HB-kp6rl4 жыл бұрын
Get a better tip on that shooter so you can hit to peak from the ground. I can down stream from the ground and clean that twice as fast. Research down streaming and save yourself some time
@trueshinemobiledetailing47544 жыл бұрын
I'm sure he using a 12v pump which works faster than DS because DS cuts the bleach too much. With a 12v pump you can shoot straight bleach if you wanted to (which I wouldn't recommend lol)
@HB-kp6rl4 жыл бұрын
I know he’s using a 12v. Looks like he’s using a 1 gpm. With my 5.5gpm i can shoot 30+ ft if needed. I disagree on the 12 being faster. Yeah you can run straight SH but no one does. Not even for a roof. I can draw up to almost 1.5-2% DSing which is way hotter than needed and wouldn’t need a latter to hit the peak. I can cover more area faster and rinse faster
@andrewmisiura80214 жыл бұрын
No it's a 7gpm 12v pump. Also we do roofs. Hopefully you don't DS on roofs.
@HB-kp6rl4 жыл бұрын
No. I dont downstream for a roof. I used a 5.5 12 v pump for anything that requires a hotter mix. Im just curious why you can’t hit that peak from the ground with your pump and how you clean a roof with a high peak. What size hose and tip are you running

well if it only last a year, the home owner should invest in the equipment himself, or at least trim the csuse of the problem back.
@KahunaWindowCleaningRamsey6 жыл бұрын
The problem is moisture from the nearby pond and shade. We provide a high quality, luxury service for home owners that want the job done right. We carry over $10,000 worth of equipment with us to provide this service to customers. Our clients have better things to do and would rather not do it themselves.
@jeromeycole6135 жыл бұрын
Martin Tully yeah right. You would have to use the equipment for 50+ years to get your money back. Then you have to have a place to store all this stuff, and it's alot of stuff. I think the wise thing to do is pay the couple hundred every year or two
@kennethrinicker74195 жыл бұрын
Jeromey Cole 1. pump up sprayer $16.00, 5 gal bleach $15.00, most people have a ladder and water hose.
@housewashjosh59105 жыл бұрын
@@kennethrinicker7419 I was thinking the same thing. House washing is a service for people who can't, don't want to or have the time to do it themselves. I got into the business after washing my own house with a pump sprayer and a hose. Takes a lot longer that way, but you can have pro results with less than $100 and the time to do the work.
