Important note: The whole reason for Seppuku was for the Samurai to die with honor instead of being captured. Yasuke's leader Nobunaga DID commit Seppuku, meaning Yasuke (Supposedly one of his personal guards as people allege) was obviously close enough to witness AND have enough time to commit Seppuku as well, yet coincidentally enough is reported to have been returned back to missionaries after Nobunaga's death. It doesn't matter. Nothing is documented that says he was samurai (a term that wasn't common during his time). He was close to Nobunaga, but there just isn't enough that is concrete. If someone wants to make a fictional narrative that says he was a samurai, fine. Just don't pretend it's reality when there isn't evidence it was so.

I have never heard about s3ppuku being used to avoid capture. S3ppuku is usually when you fail or do something disgraceful, you gut yourself to show you have honor/to repent yourself. It's frowned upon in Japan to surrender, and it's well known they'd rather do everything to keep fighting than d1e or give up, so it makes no sense to me. They'd rather be captured while trying to fight to de4th so that they can still try to show their fighting spirit in captivity, it would only make sense if it was an honorable samurai duel, in which case the winner would either finish off the l0ser or let them live.
