Something I also don't understand as a non American, appropriation mean literally taking something, and mocking it, or taking it and saying you made it right? He isn't doing none of those things. Another thing I want to ask, and if someone sees this comment, especially non american black people, help me out please, cause I'm really confused at this point. Where do you draw the line between appreciation and appropriation? CA is mostly an American concept, and I understand why, the history background of minorities there is self explanatory. But for example, where I live, there's black (African, not African American) owned salons, that do braids to everyone, and it's not a big deal. I have a friend, and she's black, from Kenya, and once, some years ago, her mom was doing her sister's hair, and she asked me if she could do mine too. And I didn't know what to answer, I refused at first because of the CA thing (most things I learn, I learn them from Twitter). When I refused she looked so hurt, like I didn't like them or something. I don't mind people taking from my culture and wearing things from my culture, as long as they don't say it's theirs or they make fun of it, maybe it's just me. Just saying that the whole world isn't America. There are things that are not disrespectful in America, but they are in other parts of the world. I'd be glad if some people could give me their insight on the matter

@@raggedinsomnia3636 sorry about the late answer, well I didn’t see what Rihanna did but she’s doesn’t represent or is the spokesperson of the Black community, as for Kai even if he doesn’t know that’s it’s a durag and is ignorant about it it doesn’t make it right and acceptable and I’m aware that it may be the stylist’s fault (NCT members also wore durags recently),, also cultural appropriation isn’t limited to the US, I live in France - I’m apart of the Black community - and a lot of people from any races are aware about this issue (especially people from the younger generations), and CA isn’t only mocking something from another culture or saying you made it, it also means taking someting without respecting it’s original meaning or the use of something from a minority’s culture by a dominant culture which is advantaging the dominant one (example : braids being called ghetto by some people but seen as cool and trendy on other races, a bit like what happend with the Kardashians) thus if you’re facing a situation like with your mother’s friend, maybe you could try to explain them why you’re uncomfortable (because you think it’s CA and you don’t want to offend anyone for instance), I think they would understand, finally Kai shouldn’t be wearing a durag because, aside from being a haircare tool it’s a statement for Black people as it was firstly used oppressively on women during slavery before becoming a symbol of pride for the community during the fight against segregation in the 60s

I got attacked every frame of this mv visuals were amazing but I actually cried so hard after that robotic eye thing showed up n Kai started flowing around with his vocals.
