The fact that this was scrapped from Cold Steel III just shows that they decided to change the final battle at some point, because this music is incredible, it's both epic and tragic, and I can clearly see if fitting on the final boss of CS3 IF it was centered more on the corruption of the Divine Beast instead of it already corrupted.
@MaskedKingDavidАй бұрын
@@advmx3 To be fair, it being a reject from around CS3's time is still just speculation. I've seen decent points made in favor of it being from then, and in favor of being a piece made for Kai... I lean towards the former myself (partially out of pessimism, to disclose that bias lol), but I can see both sides... Probably won't be any further big evidence either way unless we get another leak incident, or maybe until the next Falcom game; (maybe also the OST release for Kai, but that's a big "maybe.")

It just goes to show how much of a talent Unisuga is, that Falcom are apparently still repurposing his unused tracks. You could easily mistake this for an unused track from Nier Automata, it has that same dramatic feeling and vocals reminiscent of Keiichi Okabe’s work. Magnificent song, couldn't expect anything less from him. The best to ever do it. I've missed his stand out percussion so much, and the violin is just impeccable due to his unmatched proficiency with vsts, it could very well be mistaken for a real violin. How anyone at Falcom thought that Unisuga was better delegated to another department is insane, even his unused music remains unmatched by anyone else in the vgm industry. If they had done a different sort of boss battle at the end of CS3, by showing the Divine beast's illusion of his true self then, slowly corroding realtime until the full effect of the curse is shown I can see this track making that whole situation insanely good. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY KING I ABSOLUTELY FUCKING KNEEL FOR YOU 🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎 (SPOILERS!!!) When this first played, I was like "No way... no fucking way Unisuga came back to compose the final boss theme...". Now, it may be a leftover, but it's still fucking hype. When the chanting kicks in, it was like an ascension into heaven. This whole battle was just fucking insane, Kincaid turning into the White Grendel, Emilia being shot down by the Sept-Terrion of Time after Roy thinking they won, Van 1v1ing him... It was peak fiction, and this track just adds so much to that. I think this is my favourite final battle in the entire Kiseki series. I'm also so glad I pegged this as Unisuga when I first played, without knowing he had a battle theme, it made the realisation significantly more powerful, and in turn made this battle and unforgettable moment in gaming for me. Just absolutely fantastic. Even with this track being less sophisticated than Unisuga's usual, it's still easily one of the best tracks in the game, a testament to his phenomenal skill. I legitimately don't think there is a composer in the world that matches Unisuga's skill when it comes to sound quality and polish; I have not heard one composers who eclipses him in that aspect, or even comes close for that matter. It's just insane that we had this king for so long, and even if he never composes again, his music will always go down in history as amongst the best the VGM music industry- no, the music industry in general, has to offer. Now, to kneel more for the king! 🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎

Even supposing this is just a reject track from 2017, hearing it in this context gives it a whole new meaning. It sounds like a desperate, pained, yet impassioned plea to not be left behind and forgotten about. It's big, bold and polished in the production aspect, yet the melody is seemingly just an outline for a more fleshed-out version. It can't fully articulate itself and somehow that makes it sound even more moving.

The Kiseki series helped me a lot at one time in my life. After Reverie and Kuro 2, I thought the series didn't know where it wanted to go, Kuro 2 wasn't really good. I found that there was a drop in quality from Sen after Ao no Kiseki, and that the Calvard arc was quite boring, it was unclear where they wanted to go. But Kai changed everything. The route system was good, the Kevin route is amazing, the Rean route is pretty useless but the fan service is good. the game answers a lot of questions from the beginning of the series and creates new ones. And the final has arrived. Who hoped for a final like this? For me, the series is at its peak again since the last chapter of Ao no Kiseki, the plot twist with the character (I won't spoil who for those who haven't played the game) is impossible to guess. The staging is completely crazy, the cinematic, the OST, everything was perfect. Thank you Falcom
@timidalchemist84755 күн бұрын
They managed to recontextualize the series once more (since Azure) with the twist that paints the previous arcs in a much better light than before. Usually, that's not an easy feat to recontextualize established lore and make previous arcs that more better. It tends to be the other way around, unfortunately with these long form of narratives.

I'm sure this is a CS3/4 Unisuga leftover. But definitely still a fresh song. The orchestral sound is top notch in this one! The percussion's similar to Phantasmal Blaze, though he used Action Strikes in this one. The mixing on the percussion sounds a bit unfinished, but oh well. Beggars can't be choosers. I'm curious what's the deal with the choir, did Unisuga put that in or Sonoda. If Unisuga, could be placeholder for Jindo choir like Azure Arbitrator, basically a way of saying insert lyrics here. If Sonoda, he might try to make it more epic. And I've heard him mashing random Latin syllables together before (Malicious Fiend), this might be right up his alley.

@@GuyNumbers Well, he still did Ys X and Reverie, and he changed a few VSTs which do sound diffrent. Like switching out his Yamaha Motif ES piano (which Koguchi still stick to for some reason) to Addictive Keys and Prominy V-Metal to Heavier7Strings for electric guitars. So there's substantial factors in his sound that marks his eras. (Pretty sure he used Friedlander Violin here, he swapped out to Joshua Bell by Reverie.) Hell you could also tell which of his songs' are older than Ys VIII by watching our for Yamaha Motif orchestral instruments. And you can tell if it's even older than Azure if the guitars, bass, and drums sound like their from the Motif, and not his high quality libraries. Which makes me wonder, is someone going to try to use his older leftovers in the future? I'd laugh my ass off if they put anyone's 2000's era leftover next game, especially if it features a cheesy Roland preset.

Unused track from Sen3 it seems. For some reason this banger was scrapped and they only decided to add it now. I THINK I KNOW the reason it was chosen, I didn't see a lot of spoilers, but if the final Boss is the person I think it is, this song actually fits. It's a desperate song, about someone or something who's slowly being corrupted and desperately wanting to be free but bound by the shackles of a curse they can't get rid of alone. Frankly it fits the Divine Beast corrupted in CS3 so well, it's a wonder why it was scrapped. But it also fits the final boss of Kai if it's who I think it is.

@DocaccinoАй бұрын
Well, we know Unisuga doesn't do new music for Falcom anymore so it's pretty easy to conclude that anything you hear from him post Reverie has to be a previously rejected track. You just have to be able to recognize that this is Unisuga's work, which isn't too difficult if you're familiar with his style. It's also reminiscent of One-Way to the Netherworld from CS3 and quality wise it's definitely so it's easy to place the origin of Kai's final boss theme in that period. We also have a rough idea of how many unused tracks could potentially be gathering dust in Falcom's proverbial closets thanks to leaks of their internal archival system for tracks their composers produced. That's getting into the weeds though.
