I honestly loved the anime, a solid 9/10 from me. I can easily see why people gave this anime a higher rating. The emotions felt in such a small amount of time on every planet, it is definitely something I have never seen in any other anime I've watched. The characters feel and act so real, only improving the anime. The main reason I lowered the rating from a possible 10/10 is due to the ending. I personally did not catch a lot of the themes and ideas put out in the last episode, which is definitely worth a rewatch. This lack of understanding put me out of the feels that I enjoy so much of this anime for. But with that said, this anime is so incredibly beautiful and put together so well that I will likely never find anything like it again. I would be happy to hear if there are any other anime like this one. I can only be sad at this anime's lack of attention. What beautiful music composition. And while I know that nobody will probably read this, for a half a year at least, I felt it almost necessary to leave this here. Agreed on the ending, something about the dialogue and pacing made it confusing imo. If you want other anime by the same director (Masaaki Yuasa), I highly recommend Ping Pong the Animation and The Tatami Galaxy. Both are very short and both are 10/10 imo, so they are worth checking out. They are not really similar to Kaiba imo, but you may notice similarity in directing style. But I think that Ping Pong does pack every episode with a lot of emotions and character development, so that is something you may enjoy.
