Seems like Kaido has the same energy of a shounen protagonist after a bad turn 30-40 years after the conclusion of a manga. He shares Luffy's love of fighting and ESPECIALLY good fights, but the rest of the more optimistic elements of typical shounen protags were beaten (physically/emotionally) out of him over the course of his life. Obviously his journey was different than Luffy's by a longshot, but his life was kinda like the bad timeline that Oda drew for Luffy but tailored for Kaido. He's a massive alcoholic who has little to no empathy for basically anyone at this point, which could be Luffy if his friends were all actually murdered in front of him at the Sabaody Archipelago. Might be totally irrelevant but I thought Oda drawing that slight similarity was genius.

I think that there is no way Kaido is under 40-60%. If Luffy is awakening or JoyBoy or whatever, there is no way it's going to end in a one shot from Luffy's side, it's gotta be a decent fight

In his eyes what's done is done. He doesn't like to win in that way, but he's not dumb enough to reset the situation so his opponent has another shot. Katakuri could afford to do that considering it wasn't his goals on the line , it was his mom's. Kaido damn sure puts his individual goals over having an honorable rematch

You can’t really compare the battles. They’re in the middle of a war and Luffy is way too tired and injured. In fact, Kaido likely believes he’s straight up dead. And it’s not like this is what he wanted

I'd say Kaido was at 5% when he was fighting with luffy above the deck, but then he took like 30 seconds to a minute to chill out as he killed the cp0 and floating down to the stage hall and that got him to 10% now when he called out for other fighters

I think Kaido has been pursuing seat to see if he could ‘trigger’ joy it within him. Kaido must know you must face death or be at the doorstep to see if the ‘joy boy’ is activated. That’s why he has be excited with being defeated by Oden and Luffy. If anything Kaido will be jealous of Luffy.

Yo what’s up king of tech! Just a Fan here and been watching your videos for a while now and I just thought of something that I think you might be interested in…. In preparation for 1044 chapter I have been watching all of the one piece KZbinr videos just to get their points on the upcoming chapter which should shape up to be something spectacular supposedly… I came across a video Tekking posted today titled Kydo always loses even though he wins. And after that watching that video it actually got me thinking that yes in chapter 1043 Kaido did technically win but in his mind he lost by being denied the right to go up against a worthy opponent Luffy being the big D daddy that he is… But it really got me thinking of the comment Kaido told bowler hat guy that “do you have any idea of what you’ve done?” When I was reading the chapter I thought that was very odd for him to say given we don’t really have any context of what that could possibly mean… And after that whole interaction where he supposedly killed the bowler hat guy and kaido burst through the ceiling and makes the claim that Lufi is dead and goes on a rant..The tone of it felt like Kaido was being rushed in his lil speech. Even when I go back and reread that chapter as I am writing this to you it’s still feels like he is rushing it…The reason why I feel this way is because The times that Lufy did go up against Kaido and Luffy lost and was knocked out by Kaido, he always said something along the lines of it “feels like he is still glaring at me”… even the time when luffy was knocked out by kaido and was thrown off onigashima, Kaido said that famous line “it looks like you could not be joyboy either” Fast forward to Luffy returning to confront kaido and they continue their big clash everything escalates kaido and Luffy having a blast going up against each other trading blow for blow these, conquer haki clashes being Epic as all hell! Chapter 1042 Happens And what looks like it could be the finishing blow… CP zero steps in and stops Luffy from throwing his finishing blow, Kaido continues And hits Lufy 100% connect supposedly killing him (I do believe who she has died at least his heart stopped)… Luffy died he deflates with air coming out of him and he lands smack dab in front of Kaito….Kaido does not say anything like of “it feels like he’s still glaring at me” even though he has said it before twice. (i’m probably wrong but fact check me on that) Rather kaido just looks down at Luffy, looks back at CP zero and says that line “do you have any idea of what you’ve done”… my Little Thought that I want to bring up to you is given everything that we believe to know that kaido knows a lot more about joy boy that he is letting on, that death completes a person, Kaido chose wano for a reason, Telling luffy he could not be joy boy either and admitting that he failed to fully kill luffy after he threw him off ONINagashima…. I believe that Kaido knows joy boy is coming back…thru luffy….and his is pissed it’s not thru himself!! After supposedly killing the CP zero guy and he just burst through the rooftop ceiling and immediately goes on his rent yelling for Momo to be brought to him, the war is over, Luffy is dead, and then he proceeds just start blast breathing everything. Kaido is pissed for sure. But I believe he is pissed because he knows joyy is coming back thru Luffy and he must end this battle now otherwise he will truly lose everything he has worked for and all the sacrifices he has made up to this point would be for nothing. In his mind. Losing even though he won a.k.a. killed Luffy The next couple of chapters are going to be insane and I i’m here for it!! Of course all of this is food for thought appreciate all the videos keep on keeping on Mr Telking!

See… one thing about the whole Kaido thing that bothers me… is why the emphasis on Oden? Yes Oden was super strong but we see in the flashback that he was never shown to be equal too or above either whitebeard or Roger. So surely at least whitebeard would have been a perfectly acceptable alternative at about the same period. Perhaps it’s because of the connection the original yonko had via the rocks pirates. But if he truly just desired death for completion and a great fight, there were and have been since, good alternatives.

I just finished reading and catching up on the past 2 chapters. And frankly I do feel a bit bad for kaido in regards to his pride. I mean his reaction to the CP0 person who helped him shows it all. You could tell he was not really satisfied with how his fight with oden went. His biggest wins he couldn't even grab himself because he had help. The thing is i dont even know if luffy would have realistically won that final clash and had to get back up again anyway. It wasnt looking good for him. So now I'm curious as to what comes next. It looks like oda might be doing what other authors have done with having some sort of hidden power with a reincarnated person being the source of that power. Also i dont think luffy will like that either. Same way ichigo didnt like hallow ichi interrupting or Yusuke having his ancestor take over his body to beat sensui

The thing is that both of them would have collided still and I imagine they both stand there like Katakuri and Luffy was before one fell, Kaido could have even dropped to his knee first then Luffy falls over from the pain. A more intense end where Kaido has to catch his breath and recover from that last hit before walking over to Luffy and showing him respect like Luffy did with his hat to Katakuri. Then Kaido would have headed down to talk but he could have struggled a bit, might not have even been to turn into his full dragon form and would just look down the hole at the top and yell down in his human form that Luffy lost.
