Hawkeye and Black Widow are very much heroes. They belong to the category street heroes. These are heroes without superpowers, but with extraordinary human abilities.

You'll notice in the end credits scene at the shawarma joint, Chris Evans is the only one not eating. The reason why is because they filmed it the day after it's world premier in LA. Chris Evans was growing a beard for the movie Snowpiercer, so they actually had to give him a prosthetic jaw to cover his beard so he could not eat anything and that is why he has his hand on his jaw to keep it in place during the scene.

Hey Kaiielle, good catch on Ashley Johnson (for the rest of you, she was Patterson in 100 episodes of TV's Blindspot). I totally missed that one. Other interesting cast members: Jenny Agutter (World Security Council Member, starred in Logan's Run), Harry Dean Stanton (Security Guard finding naked Bruce Banner, starred in Alien), the late Powers Boothe (World Security Council Member, Emmy Award for TV's Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones) and Alexis Denisof (credited as The Other, starred in TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and later Angel).

Love the Hawkeye love! People are always confused when I say that Hawkeye is my favorite superhero because while in the comics he's one of the funniest characters and has some of the best comic solo issues, in the mcu he sometimes can get kind of overshadowed for not having powers (I think that the fact that he can keep up makes him even more badass) So I'm so happy that you liked him! Also a little fun fact is that a few years ago RDJ, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and ScarJo all got a matching tattoo of a combination of a 6, the avengers logo and something that represented each of their characters. They tried to convince Mark Ruffalo to get one too but he's afraid of needles

This set the VERY high standard for Superhero movies. Everyone cones together in an organic way- with infighting and a bit of mistrust at the start and they solidify over Coleson's tragic death. Coleson truly was one of them. I think Iron Man 3 is up next- that's a really great one!

Feel free to keep your speculations on the future! Part of the fun in joining you on your journey is re-experiencing what it was like at the time these movies were coming out, noticing threads and wondering if they would go anywhere, or seeing a new face and scrambling to the Internet to try and find out who they are and what it could mean for the future (no spoilers for Purple Guy, I promise!). A lot of first-time viewers have a lot of surface knowledge about the series going in, and so can already start to see the general roadmap by Avengers 1, but your blindness to it makes it more exciting! 💛💛

There’s a lot of channels that have great reactions but they end the video immediately after the movie so we don’t get to know how they fully felt about it. Clint Barton/Hawkeye is my second favorite Avenger(1rst is Rogers), in the comics he's been an important member of the team and even the leader more than once, he by himself has saved the members and defeated lots a villains, all that without any super powers, even Tony considered him the perfect captain America substitute when Cap died in the comics, because he was one of the few people that can manipulate Steve's Shield without getting hurt. I just love him so much!

Part two. Loki getting thoroughly wrecked by Hulk was one of the most cultural moments of that time. Tony confronting Loki was a highlight more importantly he put Coulson over his own grievances the fact Tony was avenging Coulson in the moment shows that despite how rocky he was with him Tony did grow to see Phil as his friend. Steve marshalling the forces where everyone even a god like Thor a man of massive pride like Tony even Hulk are willing to follow his instructions.

I won't reveal anything now, except to say that when I saw the new character in the mid-credits scene in the theater I recognized him immediately, and knew the stakes of the future of the MCU just went through the roof! I still think this, as a whole movie, is not only my favorite of the Marvel movies, but is one of the great movies in any genre. There is a lot of great writing, directing, and acting being invested in the "superhero" movies and TV shows, and too many snobs can't see that. This really set the bar high. 💛

Saw this opening weekend with my husband and our son, who was 5 at the time. Such a good memory, this first time we see Avengers assemble is my favorite of the Avengers films, and in my top 10 of the overall MCU. The character dynamics are so on point. I really enjoy the respect that Thor has for the human heroes, once he fights them and figures out they are worthy, so to speak💛 Edit: forgot to say I am fine with chapter time stamps or not, which is easier for you. Also, I always enjoy good reviews, comments, and questions at the end of each movie, it is all part of the MCU experience!

Fantastic reaction! This movie just feels so awesome after watching each of the individual movies leading up to it. Getting everyone together for a Big Bad and having them bicker and not immediately just Be A Team is why the MCU exists. The character development within the movie, and then across each movie is pretty well planned out despite different writers/directors. Coulson's death always gets me big time, definitely one of my favorite characters. Seeing Tony "avenge" him is just *chef's kiss*. I was always bummed Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis weren't in it. Happy Holidays and enjoy the BREAK!

Barton rapidly became my favorite of all of the Avengers, Tony included. The more I saw of him, the more I became fascinated by him. I also agree that the aspiration to show the Battle of New York through the eyes of the civilians was important, and I wish it had been included a bit more, because it made the story feel like it wasn't just the heroes that mattered. That aspiration continues through the MCU to varying extents, and it's one of my favorite things about the franchise. They don't shy away from the effect that the superhero battles have on normal people who are just trying to live their lives. It feels like they're trying to nod towards the fact that everyones stories count.

"And, Hulk... Smash!" I cannot begin to tell you how satisfying that scene was for me when I saw it in theaters. The first super hero cartoon I remember watching when I was a very young child in the early 80s was The Incredible Hulk animated show that came out in 1982. I watched reruns of the 70s The Incredible Hulk live action tv show, collected Hulk comics, and loved the 90s Incredible Hulk cartoon. The first movie version was hard to watch. The 2nd one with Edward Norton was a mixed bag but a big step in the right direction. This one they NAILED it. Just seeing The Hulk unleashed and given permission to smash everything in his path was a dream come true. And the fact that he basically stole the movie by smashing Loki like a dog with a chew toy was like my birthday, Christmas, and a surprise gift out of the blue just because someone likes me all rolled up into one.

After all these years it still pisses me off, when people call Clint "the weakest and most useless" Avenger. He is the only "normal" human on the team and can keep up with Supersoldiers, demi gods and rage monsters. People also tend to underestimate his intelligence. At the beginning of the movie, he was the only one in a room full of high quality scientists who noticed that the Tesseract is a portal. The mental gymnastics he has to make to calculate the flight path of his arrows is also nothing to be sniffed at. Clint is awesome and he has been my favourite Avenger for at least the last 40 years and I will always defend him. It is nice to see someone also liking him.

@3:39, I've been reading Marvel Comics since the 1970s when I was in elementary school. That whole sequence of Tony suiting up while falling is an homage from the comics. Back then the Iron armor was drawn as being a made of separate pieces of steel mesh that were flimsy and extremely collapsible so it could all be carried in a normal sized brief case. It was only when Tony puts the suit all together and turns it on that it would become rigid and almost indestructible. There was an old school Iron Man comic in which he is thrown out of his Stark company plane by bad guys. However, Tony manages to grab his briefcase on the way out. While falling he pops open the brief case and starts putting the suit on piece by piece in mid air. Seeing this sequence on the big screen back in 2012, I had a big of a nerd out.

It’s understandable that you didn’t think much of Clint and Natasha. The reason you barely noticed Hawkeye in the Thor movie is because, basically “comic book movies “ aren’t made for the uninitiated. They’re made for people who already know who these characters are, so we can geek out at Easter eggs but also so the general public can still enjoy the overall movie. For everyone that knew who Hawkeye was, the were excited to see him briefly show up in that movie and already knew he would be an Avengers.

One more thing (in addition to Shawarma...) - The first Avengers movie having Loki bring them together is an nod to the comics, Avengers #1. In that Loki forces them together and they become the Avengers. In it, it was Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, and Ant-Man and the Wasp. Cap didn't join the team until he "thawed out" in issue #4. And the rest is history. :o) Can't wait for you to watch Phase Two!

The other thing I think has to be said here is that is amazing that this was the sixth movie in a series and it felt like an amazing beginning and not a 'finally it's done!' type moment. It really was an amazing thing that had never really been done well in cinema before or since. Everyone is still trying to recreate this formula with their franchise like it was Erskin's Super Soldier Serum, but no one has really done it.

So happy to watch this reaction. (AND to listen to your comments 💛) Speaking of which, your comments, questions and ideas are wonderful to listen to, that's all I'll say about that! When I saw this movie in theaters, it was really unlike anything I'd ever seen before. Love how each character gets to flaunt their strengths (and their weaknesses) and how Natasha and Clint get thrown into a battle against flying aliens, yet it still all makes sense to the story and they both contribute massively to the outcome. (I also do appreciate at least two separate times when they show Natasha having had almost more than she could bear-once when Fury radios her after her first encounter with The Hulk, and another after she's beaten a few aliens in hand to hand combat and gets briefly surprised/spooked by Steve). It gives her a world of relatable humanity.

Before playing Captain America, he played Johnny Storm the Human Torch in the first couple of Fantastic Four movies by Fox. So a lot of people were stating their displeasure with the choice to play Captain America. But he pulled it off nicely.

Havent seen this mentioned by anyone else, but about the Odin dark magic being used to get Thor to Earth. The way I think it was done was a way to figure out "How do we get Thor on Earth, but also explain why he cant go back and forth at will to see Jane". Odin is willing to send him in case of an emergency, but not going to send him to go on a date...

This really was the movie that made the MCU click, especially for me. I actually appreciate that the heroes weren't all buddy-buddy right at the start, but that their genuinely conflicting personalities had to learn how to work together toward a common goal... just felt natural. Them all just slotting into place would have felt unnatural, given what we've seen. And yeah, Mark Ruffalo really does a great job as Banner and The Hulk here. Say what you will about Norton, my feeling is that... he wasn't quite as awkward and anxious as Ruffalo is. As for Nat and Barton being heroes, 100% they are heroes. They may not have superpowers, but with both of their training and equipment, they have absolutely shown that they are able to stand alongside the likes of the other four members of The Avengers. There is a fantastic animated short that someone made of The Hulk doing the whole ragdoll-flailing around with Loki set to yodeling music. It is glorious. Oh, and the Chitauri... fun thing there. But for the fact that Fox still owned the rights to the Skrulls, the invading army would have been Skrulls. Yay, copyright conflicts... Loved listening through your thoughts... you are right. There's something delightful about hearing what newcomers are thinking when they're first getting into it 💛

They filmed the end credit scene with them in the restaurant after they wrapped up the movie. The director saw the scene where Tony talks about Shawarma and decided to do an end credit scene with them eating. Chris Evans was already working on another movie and had a beard which is why he wasn’t eating and had his head resting on his hand to hide the beard. Also saw recently in the news that Jeremy Renner is in critical but stable condition after a snowplow accident around his place in Reno, NV on New Year’s Day.

I am glad you found all the deleted Ashley Johnson scenes! I think a few of those would have really added to the story. 💛 I too would really have appreciated more explanation about the Chitauri. They just came out of nowhere, story-wise. I am sure comic fans might know more about them but for those just watching the films they were a bit of a mystery. Dividing up your review section doesn't matter to me, I would watch it all the way through either way.

I can answer the question for both you and kaiielle, but unfortunately it's not as interesting as you'd think, except from a writing/ creation point-of-view. In the main Marvel universe there are a bunch of alien cultures of different power levels and enmity towards humans. One of those species are the Skrulls, who have a very complicated history with the Kree, and which have been both enemies and allies with Earth. You could think of them sort of the way Klingons were treated differently in Next Generation than the original Star Trek. We see the Skrulls in later MCU films as mostly allies. In 2000, Marvel tried to make comics more approachable to a new teen audience by creating an alternate-history called Ultimate Comics. They got rid of 40 years of backstory and gave characters all new origins with a lot of connections and a focus on continuity. In the Ultimate universe, the Chitauri were the new version of the Skrulls. Whether Whedon was already thinking ahead to wanting to use the Skrulls later -- which is definitely something he'd do -- or just wanted a disposable enemy for the film is unclear. In any case, the two are now considered separate species in both the MCU and the mainstream comics. The Ultimate comic line was ended in 2015 with certain characters being migrated to the main universe. As an aside, Miles Morales from Into the Spider-verse was also originally an Ultimate character.

@@cmlemmus494 That is an interesting piece of Marvel history, thanks for the reply! I have heard of Ultimate Comics but never bought or read any of them. Most of my comic knowledge comes from reading Marvel when I was a teenager in the 70's. I am familiar with Skrulls & Kree so hearing the origin of the Chitauri is interesting. Still in this movie they didn't give enough explanation to them, so unless someone walked into the theater with your specific knowledge set they would be mystified.

Oh boy, what a reaction :) You coming completely blind to watch the movie totally payed off, such a great idea. This movie at this point of time, I think is valid if we call it: A Marvel classic, The first time that a super hero team up shows on the big screen and changed the way of the block buster story telling forever, for good and for bad. What a chain reaction caused in Hollywood, suddenly, all the great studios wanted an interconnected cinematic universe, but they lacked the patience of Marvel, and the passion and care of the people involve in it. Many cinematic universes crashed and burned right on the start, while others refused to give up and become a bad joke, it was bonkers to witness all that. Keep on the great job. 🕷 🏹 👊 🔨 🤖 🌟 💛

Yes, that is Ashley Johnson. There was a deleted scene from the beginning with Steve sitting at the cafe she worked at trying to acclimatize to present day. EDIT: Never mind, I see that you found it. And between Iron Man 3 and Thor The Dark World, the TV series Marvel's Agents of SHIELD started on ABC. The first few seasons had either plot or thematic tie ins to any movies that came out during the season. Not essential viewing, but it does expand the world (and show how "normal" people react to the extraordinary events in the world).

I believe the intention of Ashley Johnson's character was they were potentially setting her up as a love interest for Steve. Probably Joss's idea that Feige decided against so the extra scenes were cut.
@Logan_Baron
@Logan_Baron Жыл бұрын
I doubt that. There are plenty of comic character Cap love interests to draw from rather than inventing a new one. And the scenes that were cut have no love interest implications. The early scenes more show Caps connection to people, which is why he fights, but that he's also cut off from the very thing he fights for, and later showing her helping other civilians adds a more personal touch to the people that the Avengers are fighting for to try to keep it from seeming like just a bunch of supers punching it out, but a personal human connection.
@Khay-77
@Khay-77 Жыл бұрын
@@Logan_Baron The whole exchange was building up some attraction between the characters to the point Stan Lee tells Cap he should ask her out. It was most likely Joss's inclusion but it was later cut for a reason. The Russo brothers may have had a hand in that as well.

Those of us who were familiar with the comics knew ahead of time that Natasha and Clint would likely be part of the team. Although perhaps not as flashy as the super-powered Avengers, they've more than earned their place, in this movie and in the group. (As you very astutely realized yourself 💛) As for the matter of Thor getting back to Earth, it has nothing to do with future movies. What Odin employed wasn't dark magic but 'dark matter', a form of matter which has never been detected or proven to exist (in real life), but which astrophysicists have hypothesized as an explanation for certain phenomena. Apparently, in the MCU the Bifrost somehow employs it to facilitate interstellar travel. And I loved your reaction to Tony's "performance issues" line. The conversational "one in five" part is what usually gets me chuckling.
