A themed Cowboy Town in Japan huh? Hayakawa Ken / Zubat is themed that way. the first EP has wildwest gunslinger. Zubat is quite a breakaway from 70s Tokusatsu traditions. gangsters instead of monsters. and no instant henshin. and only Kayakawa himself has 'Hitech' stuff while baddies are more like regular mafia. in previous EP the Hell Dragon gang is themed after Chinese Triads (can't remember if The Bund is being aired in Japan by that time or even bein filmed. but sure Asian bighits.

This show is awesome. It's got weird aspects to it, like a lot of Showa tokusatsu, but this, moreso than other toku I've watched, stays consistently engaging even before the big battles at the end thanks to the neo-western presentation. It's a series that radiates "cool" in every minute, and I hope it grows enough of a following to continue being officially subbed.

I love Zubat... it's so ridiculous, and its realism (well, just lack of modern toku flashiness) makes every goofy thing feel so much more over the top. But all the same, it has such strong drama and heart. It's emotional and genuine, it's winged space cars and Wild West-style vibes all over... I need more shows like Zubat, aaawwhwhwhh 32 episodes just doesn't feel like enough...
