Very informative thank you. We got our key fobs for free at the Christchurch Motor Home show when we asked a stall holder for them and proved we were NZMCA members but it was cheeky request. We can attest to the freight train being very loud in the early hours of the night. I agree it is far too expensive for what it offers especially with public access to the toilets.

Thanks Karen 🥰 Great score with the free fobs. The other KiwiCamps I've viewed were $15, which is fair, but $25 for Kaikoura KiwiCamp seemed like a crazy pricing decision, especially as we have two NZMCA club parks in Kaikoura, neither of which border the main freight line. It's great having this park there to use the washing machines (and dryer in winter), but I wouldn't stay at that price 😂

That looks like such a beautiful town with the snow in the background. But I agree they're taking the piss if they're charging so much to camp next to the train line. I don't want to be camping next to trains.

It's a stunning town and it's very popular with tourists. Tourist towns like this always have plenty of other campsites. Donegal House was charging only $20 per night for powered sites for caravans to park behind their hotel.

I heard you mentioned about your ecoflow, how do you find it , are they worth getting as I would like to get one but one that will run a microwave and air fryer

That's a good question. I made a whole video review about the EcoFlow power station if you want to watch that, but to summarise the video, the power station itself is good but the EcoFlow solar panel has been a waste of money and is inferior compared to my other solar panel. My EcoFlow power station is capable of boiling kettles and so on, but anything that heats will chew through your power very quickly, so you'll need to calculate how long you plan on running your microwave or air fryer and you'll need to factor the watts into that calculation. If I was running microwaves and air fryers regularly, I'd probably just buy another 12V LiFePO4 for my caravan.
