Regina King said recently in her 1st interview since her son’s passing, that grief is love that has nowhere to go…..and she’s right. In addition to the multitude of other things we miss about being in the physical presence of those we miss. It is a life long process and we just get better at learning to manage it. Congrats to you for taking care of yourself & putting your needs above the opinions & sometimes suppression of others. You’re a beautiful young woman inside & out. These difficult times will only help shape you into the powerhouse you will become……❤❤❤❤

All for therapy and with the black and brown community. We definitely need it. The ones that are older than us suffer and have issues due to them being prideful about admitting they need help. I tried therapy two years ago and she helped me and gave me assignments that helped as well.

Therapists are there to provide you with the necessary tools to navigate hardships or just life in general. If everyone understood this perception, I feel as though it would erase the negative stigma attached to therapy. I have been going to therapy consistently for 10 months and there’s so many things that I have learned about myself that I did not know. So proud of you Kaila for taking the initiative to start your own therapy journey regardless of what others may say. As women, we need to show up for one another and celebrate when we take this step because it’s huge! Please keep us updated on your journey, and just remember healing takes time. Just enjoy the process and know that your therapist is on your side 🤍

Whew, the comment you received from family about therapy is something I definitely experience. I’m so proud that we are of a generation that is wise enough to seek healing. Just remember your journey is yours and is sacred. That vulnerable piece of you doesn’t have to be shared with anyone else bc they will offer their unwanted opinions, especially in our community❤

Oh yes of course! I so appreciate you taking us along your journey bc it just lets us know we’re not alone in this. Please continue sharing! I was referring to the pressure of letting family in on your journey bc we know how discouraging it can be 😭. Definitely feel you on that

Congratulations on your first therapy session! As I grow older, one thing I’ve learned is a lot of elders are simply lost & ignorant. They hold strong (mostly negative) judgements and lack in many areas that said therapy could possibly aid. Anyway - I love this for you girly 💟🫶🏾

Yess Kake! You know how I feel about a hr long vlog! Pours the peach wine and ginger ale 😂 As far as the whole being nervous for therapy I think o have a completely different perspective on it as far as my first time.. I’ve been going for almost 4 years and I still remember my first session. Mentally I just kept saying to myself, “ this is for your betterment” & “she’s not here to judge you” therapy is probably some of the best money I ever spent lmao my favorite thing is once it’s said out loud you can move on from it. Let it stay in that session and tackle the next thing Best of luck on your continued healing and overall journey 🤞🏽💗

About the therapy session..or just life in general…people either possess an abundance or poverty mindset..share news when the goal has taken place otherwise others will impose their thoughts on why it won’t work. They’ll see you at the level where they are currently. Not to say anyone is lower or higher. You know what is for you so scattering your forces before it takes place could hinder the outlook…best of luck on your therapy journey ❤

Another one keep the content coming we love it ❤️ . On another note it’s sad in our community therapy is looked down upon. I remember telling my parents I was in therapy a year after I started and they look puzzled and confused like why you need therapy. But I say that to say do what feeds your soul and what you feel you need. I went to therapy at an extremely low point in my life and my first session I was so nervous I cried the entire session I probably said like 3 sentences. But I decided that day I needed to change my life after going to therapy for about a year plus my life did a complete 180 I was healing from my past traumas and found my now husband. I learned different tools on how to cope with life and everything it throws at us. I will always advocate for therapy it truly help as long as your open to the journey cause it’s a journey but the best one

Im so glad I came across your vlog a while back since I moved to a the DMV a few years ago and love seeing youtubers in my demographic that actually live in my area. As for therapy Id love to know how your sister found you a good one because My last one out here in DC was TERRIBLE! Then the one I tried in Alexandria told me that I was doing very well in life, achieved a lot of goals in my life, home ownership, good career etc at a young age then asked what I could possibly be sad about with so much positive things happening. Like that’s why I am here to talk to you to figure it out ????? so that was the first and last time I saw her.

I’m happy you decided to start going to therapy, it was the best decision I made for myself after my mom passed. You’ll learn how to grieve properly and the weight will get lighter. It still hurts of course but it’s good to have the proper tools to get through the hard days. I feel like in the black community we have lack of knowledge when it comes to therapy. A therapist and a psychiatrist are two different things lol Also look into some grief groups in the dmv area. There are some good ones in the Bethesda/Silver Spring area

Happy to see more gorls going to therapy. From a Licensed Professional Counselor with a counselor you are going to nervous and it is a very vulnerable experience. Just please don’t go through better help and treat the therapeutic relationship like you would any other relationship. If you re not getting what you need from this therapist find someone else. Psychology today and searching your area is a good resource as well as therapy for black girls.

Therapy is self awareness and the love of self. You have to always remember the African American community has never been allowed to believe that their feelings were valid. So don't be offended by that family member that is reflecting what has been passed down to him or her... I myself have been in therapy for 2 years 9 months I love it because I love myself... As a proud African American woman I will tell you If no one else will I'm proud of you loving yourself enough to get yourself therapy.💪🏾🫶🏾🫂 Yes the first time is frightening and uneasy but Do it anyway.
