In my opinion three four strategies makes it super favourite: 1. Direct purchase and supply from manufacturer keeps the rates at minimum. 2. Quick payments to suppliers 3. Keeping those quality items at reasonable rates which otherwise Middle and lower middle class used to think thrice before purchasing 4. Keeping the operational part lean n thin. No excess staffing and shoshebazi 5. Good coverage of areas as per the demographic spread of economic strata of society..you will rarely get it near Posh areas

DMart is really great it understood the Middle Class daily requirements much better than other players in the market. They worked on main point and ignored baki bakwas like high expenditure on Ad, Branded Materials etc. Middle Class don't need all this bakwas they just daily usage products at reasonable rate DMart understood that requirement perfectly so now they are Leader in this Segment..

@@DoppleGangoor okay so according to your statement, there are no quality products in Dmart, then why are such "quality" products not getting purchased from other supermarkets? Why are their sales not getting skyrocketed like DMart? As DMart is mostly in tier 1 and 2 cities where there are other supermarkets as well and people are also willing to spend on quality products now, but the reason is that extra 5-10% discount that is offered on almost every basic commodity which is the factor. Also their staff is decent with the customers irrespective of thier physical or any other appearance. Not defensive for DMart but that's how they're scoring heavily ahead of JioMart, BigBazaar or other stores. I was myself an avid purchaser of BB but after 2011 I've preferred DMart as experience and cost both were effective and decent there.

It varies from product to product. Some products are cheaper in Reliance and elsewhere. Some exotic and high end products are cheap in DMart. The psychology of middle class people is trickily utilized in DMart 's favour. Each store has its own pros and cons

In Reliance mart, the way they treat customers is very worst. We were not allowed to put back items into bags after billing… instead have to put them back into trolley and show them to security and then we have to put it into bags… they treat us as if we are thief’s…. In Dmart or others stores… the billing person himself politely keeps our items into bags and help us.

A normal customer who has gone to both these stores will realise one thing. 1. DMart stores are huge. 2. Just stores with basic info, products and same one green colour theme. 3. No sales of perishables such as fruits and vegetables. 4. Informed and fast store employees. 5. Certain look damages are simply left for longer as if customers care. I think DMart saves a lot due to these things.

These big players have literally killed smaller shops and business where the owners cannot compete with DMART prices. Literally distributors sell the products to DMART in way too lower prices when compared to what they sell to smaller shops... Many business are running in losses due to this Monopoly and selling prices by distributors.
