Why do Indians insist on shooting the proceedings on their smartphones when they know, or can easily guess and verify, that the organizers of the event are shooting as well and will upload the video online ? Why not enjoy and participate in the discussion and leave the smartphone alone ?

Because they're not told if the video will be uploaded or not. Plus, when you really like a concert, or a discussion it touches your heart so much that you dont want to take a chance on the pretext of common sense. P.S-Not been there, nor done that.

Fair point, but the flaw in logic is (a) the event is organized by a KZbin Channel (Lallantop) , and (b) the way this video is recorded, there would be at least one tripod wielding cameraman in the vicinity, in what appears to be a moderately sized venue, so if you looked around, you would certainly spot him/her/one of them. Combine (a) and (b), and your logic appears very shaky.

You haven't attended many events then. I attended an event organized by coke studio in which papon sung some very good songs. The event was recorded, I remeber waving hands like jackass with all my friends when the camera pointed towards us. The video never came on youtube. And more importantly why're you so intolerant towards such an invaluable event? Cool down.

I am not "intolerant" towards the event as you put it. Au contraire, I am dismayed by the proclivity of some of the attendees to attempt to capture an experience electronically. Aren't you better off being engaged ? And if you were a speaker, would you rather that the audience pays attention and participates OR that they stare at you as an automaton with a tendency to digitally hoard ? And oh, I am "cool". When I am not, my tongue-lashing tends to be of a very different magnitude.
