I really like how you gave yourself permission to experiment in a low cost low pressure way and then decide whether it works for you! I’m also finding I really want simplicity instead of constantly changing or buying more things. Glad to see it’s working for you 😊

I absolutely love the concept of having commonplacing within the monthly and daily section in a journal. Its a wondefful way of seeing all the things I was interested in at a specific time of my life. Im just not sure how many of the daily pages within a week i would need in advance to know the exact page to begin my commonplacing , if that makes sense.
@KaitlinGrey8 ай бұрын
I feel you, what I’m planning on doing (if it helps) is splitting my book in half, so the first half is for my monthly, weekly and daily pages and then the second half will be for those commonplace entries and journalling!

It’s always fine it interesting to hear people’s perspective on different systems. I personally I’ve tried being and rings many times over, and I have the opposite feeling of so many. I feel like I have to conserve pages because I only have so many. I absolutely detest the printing and cutting of inserts and feel very limited, as opposed to being a bound book. I feel complete freedom like I can just continue to write and not worry about it. I enjoyed hearing your journey.

Hi Kaitlyn! Just wanted to say I love all your videos and how simple the system is. You really helped me refine my own. I started out with a cousin and a day-free, then dropped the day-free for a plain hobonichi notebook. I had bought so much washi tape and pens and highlighters and stickers. I felt awful, but felt this was the way to go. Two months in I found, it just wasn't working for me. The pressure I felt with any kind of decoration and the weeklies I was finding stuff to write instead of meaningful things. I finally had to just stop with the cousin and all the videos that were influencing me. Thats when I found you! Finally simplicity. That was what I needed all along. I'm super thankful for you! My current system is two TN's (one standard & one passport). I keep my daily journal and commonplace book in the standard as two separate inserts. In the passport, I have the weekly undated and a "catch-all" book which has my SDV farms, notes about people, a casual future log, some recs. I have been thinking about how to split my calendar and my daily task list up but I want to stick with two books only. Anymore and it'd be overwhelming. Anyways, I've been in my TN's for a little while, and the simplicity of it and my system has honestly done me so well and saved me from wanting to stop journaling becuase of the pressure. So thank you, Kaitlyn!

I found I had a same experience with planners when I tried using them last year. I think at first the structure was really nice but then as I used them it became really restrictive 🙃 I’m glad you found something that works for you!

I am so glad to see you back in a Stalogy. I’m pretty much here for ALL of your content 😆 but I’m a bound book girlie so I was so excited to see this back in your lineup. Your planning style is so lovely, can’t wait for the next video. 🤍

i love how you’re using the stalogy! i’m also a fan of using apple notes to keep notes about things i’m working on so that i can easily edit and search my notes.
@KaitlinGrey9 ай бұрын
Yes exactly! Being able to change the structure/edit them is what I like best about apple notes too. Also love the shared note option for when you need to work on a project with other people, often I'll use a shared note when I'm planning a trip with my family :)

Love your set-up and process. Makes so much sense and is so simple and pleasing to the eye. Everyone needs margin, not just in journaling, but in life! Question: have you ever indexed the info you might need to reference later?
@KaitlinGrey8 ай бұрын
Thank you! I don’t index right but I think I might in the future!

You are actually the reason I got into Japanese notebooks. I saw a video of yours a while ago and you were using a Stalogy...a6, I believe. I got one from Amazon and loved it so much, I used only Stalogy notebooks to bullet journal for years. I'm now using Hobonichi planners, a a5 Hon and a Weeks Mega (and I'm also thinking about using rings for work, Cloth & Paper to be specific), but I still have a Stalogy 1/2 year at my desk to jot down notes. These notebooks are so wonderful--I'm a fan of thin paper and I love the fact that the notebook (inside and out) is simple and clean. Then, because of your videos, I tried Midori notebooks, but I wasn't a fan of the texture or color of the paper. Thank you for sharing your system with us. Cheers!

I actually changed to a hobonichi plain notebook from a cousin, i love the hobonichi paper but i finally gave up on daily pages, i just think that i actually have a very routinely life and most of the times, its always kinda the same, so i decided to just go back to a plain notebook with free set up. Though i'm sad to leave the cousin, but i just have to admit that i don't use the weekly pages and at times skipped a lot of the daily pages, so even if i feel sad leaving the qoutes and the color on the daily pages, because i actually love them, i just had to do it. And i'm loving the thinner body of hobonichi plain compared to the very thick cousin 😂 While using the cousin coming from the a6 (2023), i realized that a5 is a good size for me, i don't usually have long entries, but as a leftie, i think the a5 is the right size for my hands. The bigger space than a6 was not a problem anymore since i already got over the pressure of filling in a page. A5 is definitely a lot comefortable space when writing as a leftie. Don't worry i'm still using the cousin for my sketches and drawings. I just thought that i'd rather use it for random creativity stuffs, than covering the dates and use it for journal entries (already knew that it won't work if i do this). Really thought hard about this change and i'm glad i did ❤
@KaitlinGrey9 ай бұрын
Ooooh interesting! I found the same thing with the cousin, the daily pages were really fun at first but then 2 months in they felt like a lot. A5 is such a nice size, after using a6 for a long time I've found going up to a bigger size (b6) to be a lot more comfortable as well! Its much easier to write with margins which I really like :D

It’s nice to see a simplified system. I like how consistent your content has been even with the experiments. I myself have switched from rings to tn. I just felt like I was spending too much money using rings and I wanted everything to be perfect so much that I was scared to be creative with my planner. I am using a two tn system although I don’t actually have a tn lol just using the inserts for now. Do you still use a work bullet journal?
@KaitlinGrey8 ай бұрын
Thank you! No just writing my work tasks in my with personal tasks which is working well rn

Omg I loved this back to simple. I felt like everyone was just following Megan and I love Megan but come on. The consumerism was becoming concerning and overwhelming
@stanlevi29279 ай бұрын
Theres still more overconsumption and consumerism happening in the journaling community aside from ppl inspired by megan
@yangsu22359 ай бұрын
Megan definitely has her own consistency among her own system. we cannot attribute the consumerism because of her influence. if we take planning/journalling as a hobby, and why not treat ourselves with some fun stuffs? Personally, I maintained a simple way to plan everyday for decades, but I also play around with all kinds of fun things.

Loved your video and thought process! Do you take you LIFE b6 stalogy book with you if you ever leave the house, or do you mostly keep your planners at home?
@KaitlinGrey9 ай бұрын
Thank you Hannah!! Ok, so I would say, no I'd probably leave my stalogy at home unless I was travelling/going somewhere overnight. In that case I'd bring my stalogy with me. If I'm going to the office, I've found all I really need is my field notes so I'll just bring that :)

Beautiful journals, interesting topic but would find it more helpful if you could make the script more concise and to the point
