Everybody please stop with the Plot Twists and Shipping Wars. I know what it's like to want to stand for the ship that you believe in but honestly I don't even think this song is even about love. I think it has a deeper meaning (If anyone want's to hear my theory keep on reading below. WARNING: It is a very long text) So I think this song is not a follow on of Senbonsakura (If you haven't heard it you should probably watch it first. All you need to know, it is a song about revolution) but this is happening before that. It's a song about Kaito's life as a Army Officer (There's a reference to this in Senbonsakura where Miku says "Looks like a battle hardened Army Officer". In this scene she obviously refers to Kaito in his Rei-no-Sakura Azure Snow outfit, Which is the same outfit he wears here). Anyway, I think this Kaito regretting his time as being a soldier and that he feels sad for all the people he killed because he thought he was doing the right thing. Now here comes the real deal: From 1:47 is where I think the song really starts to pick up meaning. Kaito draws his katana and in the next scene we see him getting ready to fight a mysterious figure. I think that is him in the past ( Because if you look closely at them in 1:50 you can see that the person holds a great resemblance to Kaito himself but I'm not sure about that part. Now the next bit, Kaito says "If I can one day wake from this transient dream, I would search for you. I wonder where I head to". I think when he says "Wake form this transient dream" He is talking about him realising that he was killing the wrong people. Next bit, "I would search for you" Maybe he is talking about freedom? "I wonder where I head to" He is now unsure about who are the *real* good people now. 2:11: "The modest wish I made. The scenery I look out on, It seems I am forgetting them" The modest wish: Freedom, and the scenery he is forgetting is all the innocent people he killed because he is putting that behind him and want's to find a way to fix his mistakes, As shown in the scene with him in the train. Next: 2:32 "The past, The present, If I trust in them all---" Once again confused If he did the right thing, or the wrong thing. (The rest is from 2:41 until the end) A , Another Senbonsakura reference (Miku was holding one of them in Senbonsakura. The also shown in Senbonsakura and next we get a scene of Kaito saluting and a sword flash: They represent Kaito's past in the army and the innocent people he was told to kill. After there is a scene with a night sky and cherry blossoms: You could say those memories where "Being dissolved into the night" (Hehe... did you get what I did there). Anyway, Next we have our beloved Senbonsakura characters (which are listed in order of being shown) Meiko, Miku and then we have a pause and then we see again during the flashing grey images: Miku, Len, Rin, Luka (Lol, you can even see her holding her tray) but just before that we get a scene of a bird flying into the sky or more particularly into the moon. Maybe it again represents freedom. Then the golden sakura branches appear. Not really sure what that could be but meh... and after we have a scene of the rain which I think symbolises that the revolution has started. Then see Kaito lifting his head towards the light which I think means that he is now ready or sure of what he is doing. Then we see the camera zooming through the middle of a ally way, I dunno, maybe "Running through the ring roads" (Hehe, see what I did there). Lastly we see Kaito looking out onto a scene of a rising sun with a sakura tree infront of it (which is clearly another reference) and finally we see flashes of A Moon, Kaito closing his eyes, fireflies (which in Japan represent the dead or an ending to something) a camellia and a butterfluy being dissolved into the night and then the song ends. Well done if you managed to read this much. No, seriously, well done for taking the time to. If you agree with me please like this comment I want to see how many people I persuaded to think the way I do about this song. If you don't agree please dislike, I wanna see how many people don't agree, which if you don't is comepletly fine. Some might just want to take this song for romantic. This is a song about one's shifting feelings after experiencing something extreme (in this case, a revolution that resulted in deaths.) This reflects the narrator's feelings for those he cared about (friends, family, lover etc.) This is seen on the line, "My waning feelings at last, Started to grow in size with all the secrets." The line states his feelings, which have grown weak over time, started to bubble to the surface once more with things he wanted to say. Maybe this is a song dedicated to his loved ones after the end of Senbonzakura. This can have two possible perspectives, depending on what you see. -First is that, the revolution of Senbonzakura failed and thus resulting in the deaths of many, including Kaito's loved ones. He sings this song as a tribute to his fallen loved ones, wishing to be with them once more, but can't because they're dead. -Second, the revolution succeeded, but it resulted to Kaito's loved ones changing drastically, resulting in massive psychological changes leading to Kaito seeing that they were not the same people that he once knew and loved. With this in mind, Kaito started to drift away from them, and sings this song as a tribute to the people that he once knew and loved, wishing to go back to what they were before. The story is Kaito reflecting on the events of Senbonzakura, and regretting not being able to protect his loved ones, either from death or psychological damage, and stating his simple desire to be what they were before the revolution: sharing a close bond and being happy together. But hey, this is my take on this song. It's beautiful, I know. These are just my thoughts. You can add your own thoughts on this, help expand the story of Jougen No Tsuki. Additional notes: the song title's literal translation (I think) is "Waxing Moon." Waxing is the phase of the moon in which the moon appears to be getting bigger, starting from the New Moon until the Full Moon. Inversely, waning is the phase of the moon in which the moon appears to be getting smaller, starting from the Full Moon until the New Moon. Symbolically, the moon represents Kaito's feelings. And the night is the aftermath of Senbonzakura.

I kinda disagree with you there about how vocaloid don't really show emotions. I believe that they do and to get those emotions more expressed for any type of songs that suits their vocal range depends on the user/composer of the songs. Like if you play piano, the piano itself has no emotions but it makes beautiful sounds. When the sounds are played by an pianist, you could hear their emotions that they are expressing with the use of a piano. I guess it can be called a bit childish for my beliefs that piano sounds (as well as vocaloid voice banks) are already expressive, and it just depends on the pianist/composer to use them.

This is a beautiful song! Just the way I love to see Kaito used, and by KuroUsa, my favourite producer! The song has traditional elements, and makes both tranquil and dramatic work of the subject matter and sentiment weaved within! This PV is gorgeous too. My friend showed me the song, and I shall be listening on repeat! ^_^ These lyrics are wonderful; intense and serene at the same time! Also, why are people debating who the song is about? Surely it's open to interpretation; what the Vocaloid format is often used for, a canvas open to the projection of ideas and different branches of thought to emerge on to. Regardless, I cannot stop listening! Kaito's voice is an entrancing one.

It has been 5 years, and yet this song is by far my most favorite. The art is so satisfying, music is unique, unlike other vocaloid songs that usually has a fast beat, and the vocal was breath-taking. As expected from kurousa-P. What else do I have to add? Kaito sounds human enough to me and I can actually feel emotion in his voice (the vibration, the intonation, the strength). So much detail and hardwork that people might overlook. I simply wanted to thank kurousa-P for filling my childhood.
