Sonic X Shadow Generations Is GODLIKE

It feels amazing to finally have a 3D Sonic game I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone without any reservations! There's no polarizing playstyles like mechs or werehogs, it's polished, it's experimental, and it has the sauce and storytelling that brings people attachment to this franchise. Chaos Control and Chaos Spear are so transformative and really keep you thinking and on your toes in every level, and the level design is so open and fun to play with, very clearly designed around the Doom and Chaos powers in a smart way. I can't believe Sonic Team was able to deliver on their promise from Frontiers so soon...the effort and money put into the polish and animations, as well as the streamlining of open zone play seen in White Space really shows how seriously SEGA is taking this series now and it makes me so happy! I want more time with the game to see how I feel about it compared to my other favorites like Frontiers or Rush, but I have little doubt atm that SxSG is the best 3D Sonic game, if not just the best. Wow.

WHAT. A. GAME. This is definitely the game for both sonic and shadow fans. Ian flynn and kirk thorton cooked. The 3D/2D were fun, as were the challenges. Sonic team is giving us secrets through the tokens is awesome and with a bit of nostalgia. Having shadow evolved with no mandates has been the best decision they made, and Ian Flynn worked his magic. As for Sonic Gens, I didn’t mind the changes even if it’s a little odd, but the fandom is fandom so of course they were going to say something. The two things I wished shadow gens had is: bringing back chaos blast, and his boosting animation to be skating instead of flying. My favorite level is kingdom valley.

Is it a coincidence that the two best 3D Sonic games feature Sonic and Shadow going through City Eacape and Radical Highway respectively? Probably. But damn if this game isn't legendary.

I would be over the moon if Sonic x Shadow Generations received the Final Horizon treatment as DLC. Make a genuine sequel DLC campaign to this game where you could play as Classic Sonic (please give him a voice this time), Modern Sonic, and Shadow. Play new levels for the Sonics and Shadow (we need Shadow The Hedgehog video game levels like those Black Comet levels and those digital computer levels). Have new skins like a Genesis sprite for Classic Sonic and Adventure 2 skins for Modern Sonic and Shadow. The Time Eater returns with a voice and is more powerful than ever. Experience new bosses for the three like the Hard Boiled Heavies for Classic Sonic, Perfect Dark Gaia for Modern Sonic, Infinite for Shadow, maybe a mini final boss where you play as all three of them in their super forms against Solaris, and a fixed Time Eater final boss fight between the three (it would be cool since Generations is about exploring the past, Classic Sonic would get a chance to become Hyper Sonic again, Modern Sonic would become Super Sonic 2 and maybe we could play as the all-out Cyber energy version of Super Sonic 2, and Shadow would become Super Doom Shadow).

This review is literally everything I think about this amazing package! You get a (finally not broken) remaster of a great Sonic game, with some quality of life improvements and a story rewrite that makes the paper thin story much more enjoyable imo (I can respect the people who take issues with it, although some of the things that people are complaining about are absolutely ridiculous and I'm sick of it). Honestly, Shadow Generations makes Sonic Generations look and feel a little dated by comparison, which is why I'd recommend playing Sonic Gens first (it's still a fantastic game tho) And then there's Shadow Generations, a phenomenal experience that goes to show how great this franchise can do when SEGA actually gives a damn about the quality and passion for these games. The story, voice acting, dialogue, cutscenes, level design, boss fights, music... Everything about Shadow gens is incredible, and everyone (even IGN) is so happy with it! I'm just so glad that this franchise is finally being taken seriously again and not running away from it's failures. I highly recommend Sonic X Shadow Generations to anyone, whether they're hardcore Sonic fans or people who want to give a Sonic game a shot. It looks like this time, Sonic's line at the end of generations: "Hey Sonic, enjoy your future. It's gonna be great." is actually true 👍🏻

I'm so happy with Shadow Generations, I feel there may have been corners cut especially with the prologue animation but all of it is so satisfying and I am all grateful for what we have gotten at all. This is such a good story and genuinely such a FUN and THRILLING game I love it. It's basically everything I've ever wanted while I still have hope and excitement for the stories to come. I love the sonic franchise and so many times in my life has it made me feel alive and grateful to even be alive. Having such a good polished game with a character I love so much that I can enjoy time and time again means the world to me.

I believe this is the first time that I’m seeing a full game review from you. And ofc, this was an excellent review! Also, amazing voice over as always. Currently practicing VO myself and I tend to use you as inspiration 😊 I haven’t played Sonic Gens, so along with the new dialogue this way about 50% of a new experience for me. Even with issues like Planet wisp and the time eater being annoying, I loved my time playing this game and I’m looking forward to going back and 100%ing it. And ofc, after playing Shadow gens, that portion is likely my favorite Sonic game now. From the music, the story, the open zone being entertaining to go through and the level design being the best that it’s ever been, I fuckin’ LOVED it. And genuinely, I love the 2D levels so much that I wouldn’t mind if the team had made a 2D side game with the boost formula and those dynamic camera angles. That said, I’d give it about a 9.5/10 because of the short length. But as a side game meant to be a sneak peek for the future, they absolutely cooked and I’m very much looking forward to whats to come.

Finally got the physical copy of Sonic x Shadow Generations last Friday and gotta say this And I’m REALLY enjoying my time with it. Base Generations remains untouched besides the addition of the drop dash which is really good but the Shadow content ooooh man it’s as Fun as Ppl have been hyping it up to be and I can’t wait to play more of it

My favourite level will have to be the Ark, the first time black doom came by and started distorting reality it really set the stage for the high pace adventure I was about to start.

This game is AWESOME. I cant believe there is some negative reviews of it yet, fortunately the majority are positive. My only critiques are that I hadnt played Sonic Generations in years, so I started with the SHADOW side, which is the gem of gems in Sonic 3D, like everyone already said, probably the best 3D sonic game ever made. When I switched to Sonic side, the controls are not the same - the Sonic homing attack are A > A and also a few other things I cant remember and I think they could make the controller unified or at least give you the option (if it exists, I have not found!). Also, like the video said, Planet Wisp and final boss was like half an hour of my life discarded, I really didnt enjoy that experience, but its the only downside, because 8 of 9 levels of Sonic are great, mainly the SA and SA2 ones!

I was crying Laughing When Shadow did the grand Slam on Mephiles 😂🤣😂 He deserved that too. And shadow beat the fuck outta those doom monsters. I kinda felt bad for them. Homie was out for blood.
