I watched the movie, only because of Shaheer, India being a patriarchal society. Womens faces abuse in many forms, not just physical, but it is also a fact that not only women, men also faces some from of intimate partner abuse or domestic violence at there case most common spousal violence is in from of emotional followed by physical, where one tenth can be sever physical assault. But in case of women the form of intimate partner abuse can be emotional, physical, sexual . Now the IPC 498 AND 498A has transformed into section 85 and 86 of bhartiya naya sanhita to incorporate the border spectrum beyond just the marital ties, to protect women.

I think they are talking about the Domestic Violence (DV) aspect because of what happened with Blake Lively and the trolling she faced during the press tour for 'It Ends With Us' when she was not even mildly interested in those aspects. I think if it was not for that whole incident, this film would have wanted the DV to be a twist like it was in the 'It Ends With Us' book. Those were my two cents

The topic is very important and needs to be discussed more. Women don’t stay in such marriages only because they feel that it is ok. They stay in them because the marriage becomes their identity. In the movie the character is shown as someone who has cases filed against him but no action is taken because of his father’s power. In real life, very often such men are very respected in society. They have power and money and the woman feels powerless and alone. She knows that fighting this man in a court of law is not going to be easy.(It is hinted of in the movie but not highlighted the way it should have been). She will have no support - not from family and not from society. She may have younger siblings whose life will be effected if she is separated or divorced. People will move on with their lives and she will be left fighting the battle alone, so she stays on despite the abuse. And when there are children involved she stays for them. She only realizes later that staying on in an abusive marriage is worse for them than getting out of it. Dealing with and staying in a marriage despite abuse is not as simple as it looks. The man should fear the law. But in a country where the police and judges can be bought with money, a woman facing domestic abuse is alone. Hats off to the women who leave. Hats off to her family members and friends who support her decision and help her to put her life together.

Netflix/Producers if you are listening: the movie was excellent but it could have been made better by doing the following 1) Clarity of dialogue delivery for some characters can be improved - it was difficult to understand some of the dialogues 2) Back ground music (I am not talking about songs) was just so so, some or most of the scenes could have been made more impactful by tweaking the background music a bit 3) Kajol’s (Madam Sirji 😂) role could have been define a little bit better in the beginning to make it flow through the movie. Other than these the acting was fantastic by all especially Kriti (Mamji 😂).
