अवधी एक बोली का नाम है। बोली एक सीमित क्षेत्र में लोगों के द्वारा बोली जाने वाली भाषा होती है। अवधी अवध के क्षेत्र में बोली जाती है । यह पूरे भारतवर्ष में नहीं बोली जाती और जो भाषा बहुत बड़े क्षेत्र में बोली जाती है वह बोली से भाषा का रूप ले लेती है । इसलिए अवधी एक बोली है, इसको भाषा का दर्जा नहीं मिला है।
