When I was a kid, and Champions League was still available for free on TV, I watched the Manchester United - AC Milan semi final 1st leg. That Kaka goal, where he sent the two United defenders crashing against each other before scoring is forever going to be in my head. I still consider it the greatest goal I ever saw live, and the perfect distillation of what made prime Kaka so great. Technique and finesse, but also powerful and deceptively quick, with a great IQ and ability to read the game

I don't think anyone who watched football at the time forgot about Kaka. It's fair to say that he doesn't get the recognition that he probably deserves from younger fans but injuries and a drop off in form when he was still in his 20's almost certainly had an impact on his overall legacy

I agree that Kaka is often overlooked today, but for me, the most underrated player without a doubt is Romario. He’s easily a top 10 player of all time and a top 3 striker ever. However, because he played during the early 1990s-a transitional period for football broadcasting and media-his legacy hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves. What really overshadowed him was the rise of Ronaldo (R9) and the golden era of the Brazilian national team in the late '90s and early 2000s, which somewhat diminished Romario’s achievements. People forget that what he accomplished with both Brazil and Barcelona was incredible, especially considering the teams that followed were arguably stronger. His stats, skill, and achievements speak for themselves.

Oh dear I forgot about that Kaka's goal after snatching away from young Messi. Knowing how quick Messi was during that age, Kaka was just another level. Really wished he lasted a bit longer. Do Michael Owen if you haven't done one yet. Used to be my role model growing up playing football and the very reason why I discovered Liverpool FC.

I remember as a kid and a young AC Milan fan, I thought Kaka was pure class but always hesitated to get his jersey because I didnt want other kids who didnt know football to poke fun at the name. Kaka is an absolute legend, another one who couldve been greater than he was if it wasnt for the injuries

Neved never should have won it over Henry. But on Kaka, when he came to Orlando City and was injured, he hung out with the fans during some home games when injured. He is truly a nice guy.

Ricardo Kaká was one of my idols. Messi & Pendu never were them. This man was. Cause he was a creator, type of footballer game needs the most. Natural born trequartista, not an industry plant like Penaldo or manager’s Frankenstein like Messi.

I'm brazilian and i'd say if you ask people here about their TOP 4 players it would probably be Pelé, Romário, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo (not in this specific order). But my personal favorite has always been Kaká, his performances at São Paulo and Milan are remarkable till this day , and he's pretty much the main reason why Milan got so popular in Brazil in the 2000s. If you've never seen this guy play before, just know he won the Ballon D'or at 2007 over Messi and Cristiano.

Kaka was incredible in so many facets of the game but what I always respected most about him was his refusal to dive on such a regular basis like countless Brazilian players seem to do. I'm not saying that he never fell over a little easier than he should have but with all his finesse there was a bulldozer inside his soul. Watching him drive forward seemed to be moments of anticipation for the amazing. Quite often he delivered what we were all hoping for and he'll never be forgotten for it! 🤩🤯⚽

Kaka was great in his prime, his 07/08 and 08/09 campaign were incredible to watch. However, he was kind of a 2 season wonder for the most part, he was not able to reproduce that in Madrid, sure injuries played a big role, but all time great is quite a stretch if you honestly had only a couple of outstanding seasons, even though winning a ballon dor alone might be enough to earn that title. On another note, a player i think really got forgotten is Lothar Matthäus, nobody seems to ever talk about him at all, even though he is very clearly a top 25 footballer of all time and argueably germanys best player ever.

Kaka wasn't from a lower class background. He was actually from a pretty wealthy brazilian background. It was one of the biggest things he had to deal with that he was seen as a rich kid originally and didn't fit into the archetype of most young brazilian footballers.3
