The detatched claw was already amputated when you brought it home. You can see that in the video. The meat likely began to deteriorate in quality because it was no longer attatched to the crab. Great catch!

thanks for pointing out! believe or not, I didnt notice that until i read comments here. I had to handle it very carefully ... i remember that for next time

Bruuuuh the claw must have been rotten since you did not refrigerate it. You left it dead without refrigerator for almost two days loool
Kakapon san, I do catch regularly and would advise you not to eat the claw that was discarded by the crab ,the meat usually deteriorates very fast and bacteria tends to grow in it making it quite dangerous to eat . I usually leave my mudcrabs dry instead of putting it in water as the quality of the crab meat will not be as good as letting it be dry.

I really appreciate your advice! This time, I just realized that I made so many mistakes. I didnt notice that i broke one claw when I put it into cooler and I left it for almost two days. Once again, thank you very much for your advice. That is a lot to learn for me!

@@KakaponSupopon Did you shit your pants or were you not ill after eating that bad claw?

That's... huge. I've been watching Andy (of Andy's Fishing channel) catching mud crabs in Australia for a couple years now and his legal crabs rarely reach this size. Truly a feast of kings, this!

Wow, i gotta check that channel out! Thanks for sharing!

@@KakaponSupopon It's also quite an educational channel!
It looked like he dropped that arm right after you put him in the cooler. Maybe he thought that if he could fit in there better he would be safe. Look at 11:25 to 11:50. Awesome catch, looked delicious!

agreed. when he was looking down at the crab after getting it into the cooler, you can clearly see that the arm was already off.

Believe or not, I really didnt notice that when I caught this because I was too excited. So, i misunderstood that crab lost his claw due to the deterioration of water. I appreciate everyone who pointed that out!

@@KakaponSupopon I believe it. it's hard to see everything in first person in the moment as things happen.

The crab is excellent with homemade mayonnaise. For this giant crab you really need a lot of mayonnaise ...

my first time to hear eating this with mayo..Hmm.. cultural difference is so interesting. someday i wanna try that!
That is one HUGE kani! I used to catch blue claw crabs late at night, on the high tied, using a light and net on pilings and piers at night. Often they were soft shells as well. Fried up whole... mmmmmm
@KakaponSupopon2 жыл бұрын
Ahh, soft shell crab is one of my favorite! You made me remember the one I had back in the NY. hmmm
That is so big crabs in my country it's not that much big but size is ok to cook ....

You could have put it in the freezer immediately or kept it alive in the kitchen basin with just a wet towel. Mud crabs can breathe air so they'll be able to survive without water. But a little moisture would prevent the meat from drying out too much.
