Because I see many people asking about GMs (or federal MS in general), none of the Federal OYW units really fit with this topic. The Federation was pretty smart when it came to the GMs, the units meant for mass production were mass produced and the Ace Units I see a lot of people commenting about (GM Sniper Custom, GM Sniper II, GM Light Armor) were intended as limited production ace units from the start (rather than cancelled mass production units, what this video is about) The only GM that I can think of that's debatable is the GM Command. How much it was actually produced seems to depend on the source, but a lot of sidestories seem to imply that it was used and produced enough prior to 0083 to be considered a full scale mass production unit. Descriptions I read often point to the Gm Command being a "Low production, Commander use Mobile Suit". It's pretty much a higher performance general purpose mobile suit that isn't particularly outstanding but better than vanilla GM for sure.

I've actually heard it argued this is what won the Federation the war. Zeon spent so much time developing all these different Mass Production designs, completely re-inventing the wheel with practically each one... and then when the design was finalized abandoning it in favor of a competing design. Goufs, Gyans, Efreets, Zudahs, Zaku High Mobility type, Act Zaku, Zaku III... they wasted so much time developing and testing these suits that by the time they hit upon the Gelgoog (Which was superior to pretty much anything the Federation had - It even matched up well against the RX-78, but was mass-produceable) they had run out of time. Conversely, the Federation came up with a workable design - The GM - And then stuck with it, modifying and improving it as needed, maintaining parts commonality and making it increasingly easy to crank out, as well as ensuring that all of their pilots were familiar with how to handle them, even as variants were introduced. Their performance was typically not at the level of Zeon suits, but as the battle of A Baoa Qu demonstrated, the GMs were ripping apart the vastly superior Gelgoogs because the Federation pilots were experienced with their machines, and had tactics down and the numbers to back up the operation. When the Federation needed an Ace machine, they turned it into a propaganda thing and built a Gundam (Which, thanks to Amuro and the RX-78, doubled as a terror weapon near the end of the war) which was intended as a one-off testbed prototype crammed with every neat trick they could think of and only possible for the very best pilots to handle.

@@IsilmeTuruphant Thing is, Zeon was at a disadvantage the moment that the GMs rolled out for two main reasons: The EF had the budget, materials AND the numbers on their side (particularly in Space where Balls were dirt cheap to pair them up with) once they understood enough about MS technology; And second was the fact that the GM Beam Guns were spread fire (this tends to be left overlooked in OYW arguments, but a crude beam 'shotgun' was going to give almost all but the thickest Zeon suits trouble from any angle due to a lack of proper beam shielding at the time). Experience wasn't really as much of a factor either when some of the Zeon top aces either used little more than Zaku variants, or just kept up to date with the units and make the most of them, which is kind of a big deal when you're on the side that innovated MS technology to begin with, so Zeon pilots on average had greater experience. Also remember that while the GM had comparatively lousy performance and quality of parts compared to the Gundam and Guncannon, they were above Zakus and at worst on par with the Goufs performance-wise while still being somewhat tougher in general (Gundarium > Titanium Composite > High Tensile Steel). That being said, also keep in mind that the complaints about the GMs came about because the main bulk of the EF pilots felt that with every new unit that the Zeons brought to the field, they had a much harder and harder time taking them on even with their relative advantages. It was such a clamor for superior units that led to the GM Sniper II and other excellent machines in the first place because the Gundam itself proved that they had the technology to do way better (yes, Amuro brought out the most of it to the point it needed a joint treatment to maximize response time and reduce wear, but his father Tem still made an excellent and fairly powerful MS that would be largely unmatched in overall performance until the Gelgoogs finally came along after trial and error). It also hardly seems fair to refer to the Gundam as a one-off when it had a direct expanded legacy with the RX-79(G) that was built from Project-V spare parts, and there were roughly 20 of those in active service.

Just to remind everyone, Ramba Ral actually requested to replace his Gouf with a Dom and in the games mentioned in the video you can actually over turn the guy who denied Ral's request. Ral gets his custom Dom (by that it's just painted signature blue from what I recall) and he actually succeeds in destroying the RX-78-2, but Amorou survives. Ral loved his Gouf, but he was brilliant enough to know when he needed it replaced.

This is in Gihren Greed and Ramba manage to capture WB gubtbak and guncannon but Amuro and the Gubdam Escape. Then another what if scenario make Amuro reach the Gobi lab and is handled the pixies unit 2 and then kill Ramba Rall is 1v1 combat

Honestly, if the Federation had up armored and up gunned the Ball unit with with multi directional thrusters, I could definitely see it compete with the front line Zakus. One of these units wouldn't have been able to take on a Zaku one on one, but given their ease of production and (I am assuming) lower price, the Federation would have swarmed the Zakus.

Assuming NT1 is fully equipped with its armor, Gouf would be at the losing end as it requires a full chain mine to remove the armor as shown in 0080 war in the pocket and the Gouf custom does not have that in its standard loadout (though it can still use it). Assuming NT1 is naked, it would be a draw as NT1 have already incorporated the magnetic coating in its frame. Taking into account of the pilot, exam system have a safety limit of 5 minute, making the Gouf at the disadvantage in a drag out fight.

DarkAlex1978 Even then it was a disaster. Zeon was based off the Nazi's no thanks to Ghiren. So when the Federation got its own suits based off the Gundam all they really needed is to drown Zeon with cheap reliable GM's. Especially since Zeon had already done most of the Feddies research for them. Hell Prof. Minovsky used to work with Zeon until he ditched them for the Federation because he didn't like how Zeon was abusing his research.

Hunting white base is only a small fraction on why Zeon screw up. The Zaku 2 was not meant for ground combat in the first place, heavy development in the aquatic MS when EFF does not have key locations in the sea, production line issue as they keep jumping from MS to MS resulting a bleeding loss of resources, internal fighting, name a few.

As much as I love me the Gouf Custom, the Efreet Nacht takes my heart every time. Stealth coating and multi range capability, just give it a 90mm machine gun and the Gouf's shield and it'd be perfect. Oh, and on the other side of the conflict would be the Hrududu Hazel or some combination of the Hazels.

I feel like the Efreet would probably be my personal preferred model here, as it was a general purpose design with fairly good mobility and solid customization options. The Nacht version would be my ideal choice, due to stronger stealth capabilities than just your standard Minovsky interference. As for any missed options... I feel like outside of these, I can't think of one. The federation units completed and used during the war kinda don't fall into this catagory unless you assume the Gundam itself was intended for true mass production.

I still remember how heavily I customized the specs of the Efreet Nacht in battlefield record. I actually used it everywhere even space, kept up with my friends gelgoog. something about the nacht having a radar jammer combined with it's dark frame made it perfect for me in space. (that said i did have to update it's loadout a bit to work in space)

Kampfers had excellent speed and mobility AMD ridonkulous firepower, but tissuepaper armor. Still, you can't hit what you can't catch! If it had beam weapons it would have been scary!

I don't think Kampfer was ever intended for mass production. I think it was supposed to be a limited production hit and run designed suit. That being said, it would have been amazing to see a squad of Kampfers armed to the teeth fighting.

If I were a Zeon ace pilot with my pick of the stable, I would want an MS-11 Act Zaku, also known as the "Action Zaku." Developed concurrently with the MS-14 Gelgoog and MS-15 Gyan, the MS-11 was intended as a direct followup to the venerable MS-06 Zaku II, updated with bleeding edge refinements including an improved reactor capable of driving beam weapons, as well as a magnetic coating system similar to that used by the RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex. As a result, the Act Zaku was one of Zeon's fastest, most responsive machines; unfortunately, only a handful were produced at the Pezun asteroid fortress before the end of the war. When Federation forces captured the blueprints, however, they were impressed enough to order it into mass production for their own use; a number of these machines saw service with the EFF and Titans during the Gryps War in UC 0087.

I've always thought I'd be a zeonic soldier on the ground, so I'd go with a customized Efreet. Replace the double heat swords with two of the Zaku 2's heat hawks, give it a pair of shotguns, and a bazooka.

Favorite is still the Gouf Custom, Perfect for Urban Combat, Close Quarters Combat, plus Flexabile Armaments. Plus it gave me one of my all time favorite Gundam battles The Efreet is a close 2nd, however outside the EXAM equip one I haven't seen enough action with them to give a full complement

The competition between EMS- 04 and MS- 05 was inspired by WWII German Luftwaffe competition HE-112 and the BF- 109. HE- 112 lost the competition against the BF- 109, and the company soon developed a new airplane base on HE-112 to beat the BF- 109 called the HE- 100, which chose hundred as its lucky number. Obviously, HE-100 lost again, HE- 100 only receive a small production for outport. At the later war, the HE- 100 had given the code name HE- 113 for propaganda proposes as the new secret weapon to defect the allies.

Hail Zeon!!! I am a Gouf pilot at heart. I pilot a red and silver Gouf Custom in GBO2. I would show pictures of it but I cant on here. Though Ive pilot several other MS such as the Prototype Gundam, Hizack, Heavy Gundam, Gelgoog, and the Kampfer, the Gouf Custom is my absolute favorite and most preferred MS. It was because of the anime MSG The 8th MS Team that I came to love the Gouf Custom. All my MS bear my red and silver color scheme with the Zeon emblem or word mark on them somewhere along with a 08 number designation (8 was my sports number and coincidentally, its the same logo as the 8th Mobile Suit Team of the Earth Federation Ground Forces lead by Shiro Amada) regardless the MS like its my trademark or signature.

if i were a pilot during the one year war... i'd probably get a zaku high mobility type, strip it of all its armor (and replacing all possible parts that can be replaced without sacrificing reliability with lightweight alloy components), add more powerful motors and thrusters and an additional power generator, the exam system, focus on melee combat with a single but longer beam saber or heat sword...paint it in natural metal finish.

There were more Zudahs than the ones you spoke of. I know of two more. One was sent to Pezun to test various parts. Maybe even some for the Act Zaku. And one other was piloted by Zeon Ace Wolfgang The Hunter Of Black Clothes. He used it to defeat the fake Federation pilot Ace Duck. Though while the Zudah itself was a cool and powerful machine. This was only due to it's speed. Something that was quickly overshadowed by Federation models like the GM Kai. So it's honestly no wonder more weren't used in front line service. And despite it being used on the ground in some video games, it was not made for that at all. Structurally speaking, it was physically more frail than a Federation GM to to it's comparably thin body design coupled with Steel alloy construction, while the GM was armored with Titanium. The shield with spikes on it's shoulder was not that much more durable than it's body armor and served more to mount sturm faust missiles and use the stabbing spikes. In all honesty, I'd put a lot more trust in an MS-06R2.

the thing is that most writers focused more on zeeks rather than federation due to their fucked up logistics rather than streamlining MS designs. I do agree that there is a large lack of Ace non-gundam units in the Federation. Though, it shows that the late war GM models proved well on an Ace pilot's hand.

Personally. Zaku I B, or S. Zaku II FS, F-2, and S. Zaku II R-2P are easily my favorite mobile suits of all time. Oh, forgot my favorite Gelgoog being the Gelgoog Cannon. That being said Gundam 0081 my favorite suits to use was the Zaku II FS and Gelgoog Cannon.

In the Gihren's Greed games I generally find the Gyan line to be a lot scarier than the Gelgoog line. Part of it is due to the game's combat system, where a weapon with a range of 0 is close quarters (e.g. beam sabers, heat hawks), a range of 1 is a long range weapon (e.g. beam rifles, beam spray guns) while a range of 2 and above is for sniping weapons or artillery (e.g. beam sniper rifles, 180mm cannons). A Gelgoog still has to be right next to an enemy unit to use both its beam rifle and beam naginata, so the beam weapon advantage isn't as pronounced. I mean, it'll probably kill whatever it's fighting before it even needs the naginata, but it also risks damage. The Gyans are the same, except once they get into close combat those beam swords of their's... hoo boy. I also find they're a bit better at dodging, I'm assuming because they're supposed to get close ASAP and so have better thrusters. So to recap, generally the Gelgoog lines have an advantage in long range thanks to beam weapons, but the Gyans will slice up almost anything in close quarters.

i Got The HGUC 1/144 Efreet Schneid. and is Very amazing. one of My Gundam Oc pilot Is Using one of The Efreets. The Colors Of Efreet is Like The Efreet Nacht But it Weapon are very different from The Efreet Nacht.. The Weapon Of my Oc Efreet are one of The anti ship rifle gun and Two Heat Hawk and some weapons Of The act zaku.

I would a have a gouf custom named the "hideous maw" exam system kampfer shotgun with back cannon and missile pod combo the gatling shield would be replaced with an "auto shield" same mounting system just auto cannon replacing the gatling gun the three barreled wrist gun would cut down to a single barrel for better ammo capacity and the melee load out would be a heat saber and heat hawk combo I would keep heat wire than I would paint the whole thing in desert camo the unique features it has a dom head and it can use j type leg pods was well having a bigger reactor for extended operation time its designed for heavy support and long term engagements
