Here is a practice track of Kakilambe with ballet rather than traditional dunduns. It includes three djembe parts, a sangban and bell, and ballet dunduns. Kakilambe is a rhythm originally from the Baga people of the Boke region of western Guinea, West Africa.
If you would like for it to be faster or slower, you can change the tempo incrementally by going to settings, playback speed, and custom (up top).
You can learn the parts included here from the source: master drummer Fara Tolno's Rhythm Reference Project (www.rhythmrefer...) and Djembe Guru (www.djembeguru...). If you like what I'm doing, you'll love what he's doing!
That being said, you can use other parts learned elsewhere. There are at least two different ways to arrange Kakilambe (terniary).
If it doesn't seem to fit your parts, it might be that you're playing the "American Kakilambe," a binary version (not tertiary) of the rhythm that changed when it came to North America.
I did this track and many more in response to the social isolation related to COVID-19. I had no one to drum with, and I figured others were in the same situation.. You’ll find lots of other practice tracks on my KZbin channel.
Enjoy!
