Until this point Not many people knew about Kalaripayattu , thanks for spreading the awareness campaign. Kalaripayattu is mother of all the Martial Arts that are there in the world Today, India shared this knowledge with all the countries, which evolved there after in each & every region. Kalaripayattu is practiced with Yoga, Meditation, Ayurveda ,.. in Bharat (India) over thousands of years.

Kalaripauttu seems to always show weapons, it'd be interesting to see them demonstrate empty hand methods with a partner. You can see their stances in kata the same as Kung Fu,, but Kung Fu is said to have techniques gleaned from animals, maybe they blended in? Then karate came from Chinese systems but modified to be more direct, linear and upright, maybe engineered for getting jumped or surprised???? Figure, rural areas, wooded, or paths where others would lay in wait. I'm only guessing here. Karate being Okinawan. Then branched out into Shotokan, which stretched the stances out, perhaps for exercise and a fight. Also went to Korea, where more kicks were emphasized, which seems I heard something about it being the terrain and maybe attacking others on horses,...... Then a Goju ryu master said India got it from Persians, which would be areas around Iran and such. It was also said, there were many more styles that simply died out being oppressed by British rule. Same as Karate died out with many karate masters dying in WWII, With bombs and bullets flying. Understand, skills as such would be similiar to a firearm. Many carry firearms today, which if intended to shoot, little can be done. Techniques taught are threats of a gun, it's different when a gun is actually being used. So, to reduce risks to occupying forces, practice was prohibited. Where it must get be necessary to ask older generations that grew up in that culture.

Seriously bro your comment is so cheap you know the mean of Kalaripayattu ?! It means " practice in the arts of the battlefield" Spouse 300 bc when these modern martial arts weren't exist how strong India used to be...the Indian emperor Ashoka the great is a example! This art is the mother of all martial arts nd even martial art legend Bruce Lee said martial art was born in India. Today India nd the ancient India is totally different you can't understand until you read the history of Indian warriors nd their arts of war that how Kalari was banned by British in 19th century
