i am a muslim and a pakistani. Ive been to kalash a several times and what ive observed is that Kalash people are an asset to Pakistan! one of the best communities of Pakistan and people are hospital and honest indeed. Accompanied with the charming valley and freezing river, the place itself is a paradise on earth! Their culture shows their humble attitude and love for peace. I totally oppose their forced conversion to Islam as they have a right to believe what they want, n thtz wat Islam says.

Their costumes resembles North eastern people of India...they might look different with their skin colour,, the way of cooking (making bread with liquid flour) , their songs, etc resemble Bihar.their motifs/paintings of deer resemble Indus valley art...to me they are an ancient branch of Rig vedic Hindus...who worship nature and anumals..of they are greeks then India state of Haryana(JATS) and Bihar have more greeks.

There are many South Asians with light eyes, skin and hair. That doesn't necessarily mean they originate from Europe. You should go to some regions in Pakistan and even North India where the climate is cold and you will find people who have higher frequencies of light eyes than even in Southern Europe. In South Asia, green eyes are more common than blue eyes, even brown-skinned people often have green eyes.

Those people are not greek at all, Stop fabricating history like this video does, It only says that they are "believed" to be "greeks" but they found out in DNA testing that this is not true at all. They are actually closer to Afghans and Central Asians (Aryans). Hence it mentioned in the video how the Kalash district is close to the Afghan border.

I'm not sure if the Kalash actually "claimed" themselves to be the descendants of Alexander's army. In Michael Palin's 'Himalaya' documentary he spoke with a representative of the Kalash, who is Kalash himself, and he refutes any claims that the they are of Greek origin. In fact, the Kalash people claim, based upon their folk-lores, that they migrated from a place called Tsiyam in Southeast Asia. At least this is what they have told many cultural anthropologists...

@Linguiphile It was genetically already proven that Kalash have almost nothing to do with Greeks. All of their Haplogroups were local and West Asian/Near Eastern. Their oral stories about coming from a Region somewhere in Syria reminds me to oral stories of another Indo-Iranian branch, the Baluch. Interestingly both Groups claim to come from a Region former being the Mitanni Empire. The Mitanni had one of the oldest(maybe even the oldest) Aryan traces.

Absolutely correct. The Kalash cannot be descendants from Greeks for a number reasons. First would be difference in body structure and language. In 2002-03 Stanford university carried out a dna tests on Greeks from Greece, Cypress, Italy, Turkey, Syria and Egypt the results that came back were that Greeks were an ethio-semtic sub-Saharan group meaning that Greeks are closely related to the then Egyptians. Alexanders perants were not Greek, Phillipe was buried in Vedic customs.

Contrary to public beleif and what History has taught us Macedonia was not Greek but a power that Invaded Greece. The vedic funeral customs seem to be linked to the Slavs the largest European family. One of the vedic texts mentions a god called Srbhinda many see this as a link with Slavs as they all at one time or another worshipped the Sun. Slavic languages "are agued to be the closest to sanskrit" out of all European languages. Simple way to the truth is DNA testing.

Several studies on Kalash found them to be a distinct (aboriginal) population with little to none foreign European contribution to their gene pool. They were found clustered between Central/South Asian populations. High and diverse frequencies of L Y-DNA haplogroups were found among them. Haplogroup L originates from prehistoric South Asia and is common in India/Pakistan.

I am really annoyed by this persistent fallacy that the Kalash are descendants of Greeks/Macedonians. There is no direct evidence of this. Whatever Greek influence there is on Kalash culture is the same with the rest of Pakistan and India during Hellenic times. If anything the Kalash culture and especially religion has more in common with the Rigvedic culture of early Hinduism.
