I lived there for about a year. Buzzy was the only person who made me feel welcome on the island. He was a wonderful man.

This is sooo sad.. I had the opportunity to work there summer of '96. Kalaupapa has had the Mule rides for the visitors, to educate people, to share that piece of history with the world now get some greedyness going on to stop them... This is a special place and a special people that have been promoting the island of Molokai and the history and people of Kalaupapa... Sproat Ohana, I support you... sharing this viseo...

We experienced the Mule Ride on our month long visit to Hawaii in 2004. Without a doubt, it was an adventure of a lifetime. We had flown to Molokai from Oahu early in the morning and we were picked up at the airport and were driven to the mule barns by the Sproat family. It was not a cheap Hawaiian adventure but it was worth every pennie as something that those who can afford should experience. The hours spent on the peninsula and the lunch provided were beyond our expectations. The history of the colony was explained in detail by very well informed guides. The state government needs to help you save this business.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not force the Sproat family out of business!!! I have taken my first mule ride to Kalaupapa with my husband and my greatest desire is to share this with my 8 children, their spouses and my grandchildren. It would be such a shame if the greed of R.W. Meyer takes away this wonderful, priceless, spiritual, experience.

I heard you say something about Crown Lands my family are the true owners of these lands. We have been for the past 3 generations trying to get back these lands from the Federal and State Governments. If we are successful then most of , if not all of our land issues as a people or race can be settled. My family comes from Kamehameha's father Prince Keoua Kalanikupuapaikalaninui and Kamehameha's eldest half brother Prince Kalokuokamaile. Prince Keoua and King Kalaniopuu were also half brothers. They were the Grandsons of Keawe the Great. Keoua's Father was Keeaumokunui and Kalaniopuu's father Kalaninui I Amamamau they were also half brothers. I am known as Ka Mo'i Nahienaena I am a mahuwahine. As the head of my family it is my desire to regain these lands and place them in a trust for the betterment of our people. In the case of the Sprout Ohana I would allow your family the use of the land without a charge. I only ask that your Ohana malama the aina care for the land. Mauna Kea is also Crown Land. I would personally see to it that all the telescopes be removed and in its place we would erect a Temple a place of worship. These are just a small samples of what we as a Race can do if and when the Crown Lands are returned to her rightful owners. For more info go to my facebook page The Restoration of the Kingdom of Hawaii.

The more I think about it, this might be a public access right of way issue as it's the only land access to a Federal National Park. In Hawaii as in most places you can't block the public access to areas of recreation. Get your state and county representatives involved. You need huge community local Hawaiian support. Get this out on the news. Can you imagine the public outcry if a private landowner tried to block access to the beach?

Is it just that small entrance at the top that's in dispute? Have you been paying a fee for the use of it? Sadly I think the owner blocked to try and destroy whatever easement right you may have established over years of open use. From my limited view of the facts, you'll need to hire a lawyer to establish your right of way in court. I wish I could help but I'm not bar licensed in Hawaii, only California for 25 years. Moloka'i born and raised. I am sympathetic and I wish you the best. The rides are a treasure, and I would hate for this business to be in anyone else's hands.

So much Huhu with OHA, Maui Water Rights, Zuckerberg Kauai issue, Kahuku Land issue with PCC and etc. Auwe! Time to stand Hawaiians and Support the Sproat Ohana.

Do not give in. Do not give them 20%. Do not give them anything. Try not to even give them your emotion. They do not deserve that. If they see emotion they see weakness. Play the game they want to play. They will get what they deserve. And so will you

DISGUSTING. I am 21 year old girl. I am moving to molokai soon alone. I would tell more of my story but its unimportant. Molokai is important. I want to help fight for molokai. The most beautiful place I've ever seen. This is not fair. It is not okay. Its so so upsetting. That gate is NOT PONO. THAT IS NOT ALOHA. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. THAT IS NOT FAIR. THAT IS GREED. You can rest assured they will get what they deserve in the long run. The spirits of Hawaii will get them. They are snakes in the grass. No snakes in Hawaii. Just snake people that are thirsty for money. I will share this video with others.
