I come from a small town, I was also in the army. I had girlfriends, but never felt safe to come out. I finally moved to a LGBTQ neighborhood when I was living in Southern California. I finally told my parents I was a lesbian when I was 27. Everyone I meet who I want to have some sort of relationship with, I have to come out all over again. I'm waiting for it to be easier, but it never really is. I'm always a bit scared. But, I am not ashamed of who I love, and I figure if this new person truly is my friend, then they will accept me for who I am. Great video.

Your advice about telling your friends is spot on. I grew up in the 80s and my high school boyfriend came out to me about 15'years ago and I could not have been prouder of him having the courage to tell me. As I reflect back on our relationship it explains a lot. We also grew up in a pretty conservative rural town. Give your friends a chance cause if they are truly your friend they will accept you for who you are. We are still friends after 35 years and we could not be happier for each other.

I think you really don't know how good this is for everybody, to see you together after all this stuff you are telling, i thinks it's amazing and gives the best feelings for everyone else who were wainting all week for this video. I assume it is n0t easy at all to tell what you've been trhough, but in the end i know it was totally worth it. Apart from that, knowing you were little girls for having all those feelings and not being able to talk because of all the reasons you've already said, i think is really valuable from you to tell your point of view, now that you've passed all of that and are still together!! Cant wait for the next video, and from the bottom of my heart i wish you the best, i really love your channel!!!

Jess I reacted the same way when my first girlfriend, who was also my best friend told me she had feelings for me. Just like you I knew I had feelings for her, but I too was afraid of them and coming to terms with them. I tried to push her away like you did with Kale, eventually we got together after I finally developed the ovaries to tell her I felt the same. Hearing you speak about your own experience really made me think back to my time in 8th grade; and realize how far I've come now at 22 in accepting and being comfortable with my true self. Thanks for that.

Heya Warble, I didn't have trouble admitting feelings to my first girlfriend, but my parents and her's.......just couldn't do it, so we hid it until I was about 21 or so.
@mazzy1317 жыл бұрын
I think you both are soooo brave to be able to acknowledge your feelings and not hide it from yourselves while living in the community you were living in. It has got to be the most frustrating/crazy thing to go against what others around you may find to be taboo. And I applaud both of you. Some are not able to do that. Some people/kids dont make it that far and really feel bad for the feelings they have and take a road that makes them feel is the only way to save themselves and their families they hurt they think it would cause them if they knew the truth. You two are rockstars and I hope with everything in me that this reaches even one youth of today. That its OK! Your advice at the end Jess was really great. love you guys, cant wait for more story times!

These love stories are very beautiful.My 22 year old daughter has just come out and i'm very happy and relieved for her.I know she's been struggling for a number of years and on antideppessants.She's now got a girlfriend who came out when she was 14.It turns out this girl had a crush on my daughter'awhile ago when she saw her at a mutual friends.Nothing happened back then,but they look cute together now and are virtually inseparable.Happy times.I'm 64 and always instill in my daughters always be true to yourself,don't care what others think and just live life.

What a beautiful love story. I got butterflies hearing about it. And I’m “straight”. I haven’t heard such a beautiful love story from a straight person as much as this in a long time. I love love love your story time videos! What you're explaining makes perfect sense and is extremely relatable. Kale, I was so into the story that when you were talking about how Jess put her hand under the blankets on the bus to hold your hand I let a loud "Awwwww". What a sweet moment & completely takes me back to my younger years when I was first figuring things out. I too regret not telling friends and family sooner. It took me even longer than it did for you guys to open up and I so wish I could go back in time and change that. It really does just make things so much worse for everyone involved. I finally got sick of living a lie and got to the point where I realized that I'd rather have people hate me for who I am, instead of like me for who I'm not. Thank you again for continuing to share your wonderful story. You mentioned a few times how fun the first year was. It would be nice to hear a couple of those stories as well sometime, if you're willing to share.

Loved it! One thing that came to my mind watching is that although I 100% agree on giving your friends the benefit of the doubt and if they are your friend, they will accept you - at the same time, the discourse of "acceptance" that a lot of lgbt ppl get from those around them is kind of screwed: it makes it sound like those around you have the right to either accept or not accept you. Which of course they don't, youre relationship is valid regardless. Thats something I experienced when coming out,just giving people way too much credit for accepting me when it should be the absolute norm. It ties of course into not accepting myself. I wish at the time that I would have realized I dont need to go to others for validation and that they are not amazing friends for just merely acknowledging my existence. Anyhow love you guys, looking forward to the next vid! x

What a fun story time. The way your dynamic started and a lot of the things that went on bring back VIVID memories of how my girlfriend and I started out back in high school. Such a confusing but secretively passionate time . There isn't much validation at that age that it's okay to feel that way , so feelings and emotions are critical. I remember going to softball games and we would hold hands underneath the seats , staring at eachother often , and then go home at night and text eachother long messages about how much we loved it and every single detail of how we felt at every moment 😂 haha not many people's first moments get to be as exciting as that.

Thank you for sharing your story! This was just as good as the first one, I'm excited for the rest. Because you knew there was so much disapproval and negativity I wonder if you did the right thing by not telling people. The secrecy gave you space to be together and begin your new relationship. If you had told your parents, you could have been told you weren't allowed to be friends anymore. This is cruel and I'm so glad it didn't happen, but parents can forget how mature teenagers are (in some ways) and could do something like this. With telling friends I think it's difficult too because if someone turns out to not really be your friend, they could tell other people and have the whole school bullying you, which would get back to your parents too. It's really tough, I wish it wasn't. Hopefully that is changing in the world. I'm glad you two made it through all of the challenges. It sounds like you have only grown stronger together over the years.
