My dream player. Ever since the very first time I saw a Kaleidescape system been demoed, I instantly fell in love. Really hoping I can get one of these in the near future.😊

If l win the Powerball somehow, this is definitely on my list. I probably would get the "Terra Server" 4k because it has more space up to 40TB. I would get the "Terra Server & Prima Cinema" (so l could watch new releases when it hits the theaters in 4k) and put it into my IMAX Private Theatre. 👍

Why this company saying that they deliver 4k resolution, but when I read their data sheet their video resolution is only 2K.

You can literally build a Plex server that can out perform this and still have enough money to buy the movies you would want to rip.

@SuperBong2010 - You must be looking at one of the old products. The new products are not only 4K, but one of the few consumer/home source devices capable of outputting 8-bit 4:4:4 @ 2160p60 or 10/12-bit 4:2:2 at 2160p30.

@TheGreenfatman - A Plex server most certainly doesn't "outperform" a Kaleidescape. The picture quality, the reliability, and the overall experience far, far exceeds anything you can do with a Plex server. It's not cheap, but it's a superior product and there's literally nothing else on the market like it. While you can *approximate* the functionality of a Kaleidescape with a Plex server, and even do some things you can't do with the Kaleidescape, the "pain in the ass" factor is off the charts for most people so the two solutions aren't even remotely comparable.

@@electriccrabb that's right the Plex and Kodi solutions are just annoying AF, with kaleidescape you have the control in your fingertips and never have to get annoyed by it

So…. I’d have to repurchase all the movies i already own? That doesn’t sound appealing… i own over 4,ooo titles w almost 700 being 4K… And does this player simply upscale all movies to 4K? Just curious

+ntube7 That would be true IF there was anything else on the market like it. It really is a great system and does what it does well. It's awesome for those who can swing it.

2WhiteAndNerdy However it has a fatal error - You still need to have the blu ray disc in the drive when you want to watch it! Imagine how good it would be if this was not the case!
@2WhiteAndNerdy8 жыл бұрын
+ntube7 That's not the case with the 4K Strato. That's the Disc Vault you're thinking of. With the Strato, you download the movies from the Kaleidescape "Store." It's actually works really well. No physical discs necessary.
