I truly apologize for the late response. De Fondo translates to "Anchor". Holding your ground per se, for the purpose of mastering of the 10 strikes and blocks. Thank you for asking!

Bear in mind, different systems of FMA use the term "De Fondo" in describing techniques, applications, drills, etc specific to their curriculum. This video is De Fondo under the Ilustrisimo System. Musta Guro Ariel. Sonny
