This is a great post! I love FMA! I believe it is supremely practical, but we don’t spend enough time on sparing strategy and tactics, thank you. No double hits!😊

Your Largo Mano, following the same line from angle #2 to angle #11, is textbook Cabales Serrada Escrima. But that just shows the versatility of all styles of FMA...Escrima/Kali/Arnis share many basic fundamentals, and advanced techniques, regardless of how many systems there are.

Why would you present a sparring video and not show your sparring?

I have a question. So when the guy ties his black belt why didn't he make the knot tight? That always annoys me.

Hello, may i know where to get those padded sticks? thanks
@strikingtiger-filipinomart50436 жыл бұрын
You could make your own padded sticks and can make them for little money. Here's how: you will need 1 - 28" X 3/4" inch thick piece of PVC pipe. You can cut it with a PVC cutter or a Hacksaw. 1- 28" piece of PVC foam pipe insulation that will slide over and fit 3/4" thick PVC. This foam insulation cuts easily with a utility knife. Cut at 28" inches. There is usually an inner piece of tape that can be stripped to reveal the sticky sides. You pull away the tape and squeeze and join both sides together. Also you will need to cut some small pieces for the ends. Last thing you will need is a roll of colored duct tape. Personally i hate the gray colored duct tape so i only use the colored stuff. Take the tape and wrap the end caps and then wrap the duct tape all the length of the practice stick. I usually spiral it out and put on at least 2 layers Spiraling in one direction and then the other. There's you have it your very own homemade padded stick. Now go do some Largo Mano, defang that snake, and do some stick sparring! One of these times I'll make a video on this.

Wtf is “Ka lee” it’s not pronounced that way. SMH

If you had only done your research. Kali in many origin stories, is derived from the word kalis. Which is a type of blade used in Filipino Martial Arts. And specifically so, my system is from the visayas. So many of the words we were taught were spoken through his accent. And that’s what I was taught from the mother land, my teacher and his teacher. In the words of Dan Inosanto, he uses “kah-lee” because his instructor told him so. There are also many references with terms such as kaliradman or pagkalikali. Now whatever or however you decide to pronounce it is up to you. Seeing as you’re very ignorant to FMA history, you must be new here. Happy training!

I’ve done my research, I’ve trained for over 10 years and have been to the visayas to train Filipino martial arts with 15 different Grand Masters In multiple systems (where no one uses the term “Kali” at all they all mostly use Eskrima. Pekiti Tirsia Kali isn’t pronounced that way either. Even Kalis isn’t pronounced the way you’re saying it. And Guro Dans “Kali” is Kamut Lihok… also not pronounced the way you’re saying it. But go ahead and assume I’m ignorant to the history and pronounce it however you want them since it’s “your” system. We can argue all day about it but what’s the point.
