Nunchucks been apart of my life since the movie "Sidekicks" i was 8 years old. I still train with them today for self discipline and to keep my body in shape. Great martial art weapon to master. 😎👊🏼💯

PROBLEM: While accepting that this is a BASIC drill, it is ESSENTIAL to also demonstrate what happens to the Nun-chaku trajectory AFTER it connects with its Target....Impact completely disrupts the smooth 'flow' that is shown, your safest Recovery after a strike is shown in the 5th technique, 'chambering / capturing' the flail under the arm-pit, ready for the next release....whatever that may be.

That's why I also train with them on a heavy bag but I believe one should first master the basics in the air.

I've been working with octagonal oak nunchucks since 1975. Mine are strung and re-strung many times with nylon cord. Nylon is virtually silent which is a huge benefit, especially in the dark

Me too but when I was looking into stick fighting I found that the skills were very transferable to nunchucks.
@robertagu55335 ай бұрын
@@nunchukGun interesting enough right.. an upon some experimenting one told me the skills before this was basically transferable between quite a surprising range of weapons, including unarmed which can literally all be the same effective fighting moves just no arms in hand. When I experimented discovering this is very much true too. When things like Tomahawks, hammers, small flails, scythes, etc are ALSO very Kali friendly an even allows for extra options depending on which. One you got at the time. Guess the list of stick, knife, an staff/spear like weapons is ACTUALLY very long along with things in most any environment that could easily double as effective improvised weapons if your trained to use them as such an think accordingly

I use it. But I always wonder: what if someone will just move forward at me and get close? I know that I can punch him with a free hand but nunchucks become liability in this situation, when a hand I hold it becomes useless, unless I will drop nunchucks. Are there any techniques for really close, almost clinch like situations? So, I can defend myself without necessary dropping/ getting rid of nunchucks?
@robread-jones36987 ай бұрын
Great video, thanks. We mostly do empty hand at our dojo (Wado Ryu karate), but do have occasional weapons lessons, so I have some basic experience with nunchucks (and tanto, jo, tonfa and sai), plus what I've taught myself (probably incorrectly). This video will help greatly when doing practice drills and forms. I would really like to learn the three section staff to build on work with the jo. Do you have (or are you planning) any videos on that weapon?
