People are comparing VVD and Koulibaly, they both are top defenders in the world but IMO they defend differently. You rarely see VVD sliding. He even said it once that sliding tackle is his last resort. Also, VVD is very good at positioning and intelligence and he makes defending look so easy. Koulibaly is almost always on the flow, and he’s the best sliding-tackler I have ever seen. And he’s more than just a tackler too. He’s a leader as well, as much as VVD is, and can be bully sometimes which is very much needed for defenders too. Now imagine having both VVD and Koulibaly on the same team.
