Having travelled almost 150 times via train, I can certainly vouch for the fact that Kalka to Shimla toy train journey was my favorite ever. This was my first time in a toy train and this has been the best train journey of Indian Railways. Never though I could travel from Delhi to Shimla in train and this journey was possible due to the toy train in Kalka.
5 hours long ride from Kalka to Shimla was not only smooth and scenic but refreshing and memorable. If you happen to taken this toy ride you will enjoy every minute of this ride.
As the toy train goes through the city scenes, tunnels and over the bridges, you are not going to want this to end.

Thand toh rahega during winter times. But I think kids will enjoy if you go during september, october, november or from March to April. Peak winters you can avoid for the sake of kids. But during peak winters you will get snow. That is amazing.
