ngl it is still in the uncanny valley zone. what gives it away is when he speaks. if we look at still frames its amazing . but when he starts speaking , it looks like a robot . the facial expressions are not yet human enough. but i would say it was bout 60 percent good of what was needed. other than this , everything was fabulous.

Good work no doubt, but completely unnecessary. They could just cast Abhishek Bachchan and even if required, do his dubbing by big B..That would have looked more authentic. P.s. this is no hate towards the vfx artists or tgeir hardwork, but a simple opposition to the idea of using a vfx-ed big B.

Caught the culprit 😂. To be honest it the most awful digital double i have ever seen. The movements of the lip feel so off and so does his eyes. I don't understand what's the point of modelling his face out of reference images in today's era when you can 3D scan his face. If im not wrong he is very much alive. Secondly instead of capturing his facial movements via performance capture you are using keyframe animation ? I mean seriously 😂 the film had a vfx buget of 200 freaking crores. This is not done guys.

Yeah could have used another actor for playing young Amitabh Bachhan here. Performance/Motion capture wouldn't have been good as well since the facial animation would have been underwhelming. The 200 crores wasn't enough to give it a visual quality as good as top notch Hollywood films.

@@AjeebDastaan2015 facial scanning would have perfected the texture, pores, unique lines and various other distinct features about a face. A thing that can never be achieved via traditional 3d modelling. A 3d scanner from creaform with accessories costs a little over 20 lakh. Performance/motion capture would have improved the eye and lip movements to a great extent. A basic performance capture suit comes at a little over 3 lakh. All of these are the most basic things about creating a digital double if they can't achieve these things on a 200 cr budget in India then I don't understand why they were even hired. DNEG would have done a much better job than them here.

Young Amithabh Bachchan scenes looked so uncanny valley in the movie. I feel like they should have done deaging or deepfake instead of fully recreating the face with CGI. Maybe that would have looked more realistic. This CGI face looked expressionless and lifeless. The voice acting is great but none of that is reflecting on the CGI face.

The same technique was used to de-age Will Smith in Gemini Man and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator Genesis.

I say this because, VFX in other stages looked awesome. Fight scenes, yaskin, etc. it is just this first 30 mins right upto and including Bhairava's first fight it is pretty average. I know it's not easy, but the later scenes were also not easy. If they did that, they could have easily made this better.

@@JAYNIGAM , You misunderstood, I said we tried all solutions prior to doing it as a CG character. Deepfake needs very high res videos to train , There was none we could use from 1970 to 1975, So I was given the task to do the sculpt by judgment and low res reference alone. I sculpted Amitabh at 35 years he’s 82 it’s not the same as reducing the age by one decade or two. You have no idea how deepfake works. I do . If you still didn’t get it . Look at the credits at the end of the reel. See my name.

The still model is really micely done , but there is still an uncanny valley , where the lip movement feels awkward and hence looks bad , I dont know why are some fans crying on criticizers and telling them "could you have done it better??" Like , that doesnt matter 😂. If you go at a restaurant and the food is served burnt or raw , the staff cant say "do you know how hard is it to cook??" . And also , they couldve easily avoided this , by using an actual young actor who might look similar to the 3d model , and amitabh couldve dubbed him , as it wouldve been cheaper and less labour intensive (because manual 3D animation on the model whouldve been very tedious) . We are not hating on the artists who put their time on this , we respect them . But the real fault is of the decision makers of the film.

The first two 3D face reconstructions were excellent. However, more emphasis is needed on the facial muscle system, similar to Bruce Banner in Infinity War. The lip sync could also be improved. Overall, it's fantastic!

Excellent vfx done by the team wrt shading, capturing likeness etc. I think the reason why everyone is complaining about eyes being emotionless is because of a motion which seems to be missing in the shots which our eyes do naturally called 'saccades'. Check the eyes of the actor around 2:12 vs the cgi model's in 2:13 for example. Rest looks phenomenal. Good work team! Hope to see more from you all.

I think what makes it uncanny is that the motion caption artist is not Amitabh himself so he can't mimic his mannerisms correctly. Also, the face model they chose wasn't the best. You can see at 0:28 that the face looks more like Amitabh than the one they used in the movie. The eyes are a big reason why he doesn't look like Amitabh. They removed all the wrinkles and de-aged him too much.
