One Hundred Years of Solitude features a rich tapestry of characters, primarily centered around the Buendía family. José Arcadio Buendía, the patriarch, is a visionary and obsessive inventor whose dreams lead to both the founding of Macondo and the family's eventual downfall. His wife, Úrsula Iguarán, is a strong and pragmatic matriarch who strives to keep the family together despite the chaos surrounding them. Their children, José Arcadio and Aureliano Buendía, each embody different aspects of the family's legacy; José Arcadio is impulsive and passionate, while Aureliano becomes a solitary revolutionary figure. Other significant characters include Rebeca, the orphaned girl who brings both love and tragedy to the family, and Fernanda del Carpio, Aureliano's wife, whose aristocratic pretensions clash with the realities of Macondo. The novel's characters are intricately connected through their shared history, embodying themes of solitude, repetition, and the inescapable nature of fate.

One Hundred Years of Solitude, published in 1967 by Gabriel García Márquez, chronicles the multi-generational saga of the Buendía family in the fictional town of Macondo. The story begins with patriarch José Arcadio Buendía, who, along with his wife Úrsula Iguarán, establishes the town after a prophetic dream. As the Buendías navigate their lives, they experience cycles of love, war, and tragedy, reflecting the broader historical and political turmoil of Latin America. The narrative intertwines magical realism with historical events, depicting the rise and fall of Macondo as it becomes increasingly connected to the outside world, ultimately leading to its decline. Themes of solitude, fate, and the repetitive nature of history permeate the novel, culminating in a tragic ending where the last surviving Buendía deciphers ancient prophecies that reveal the family's doomed destiny, encapsulating the cyclical nature of time and existence.

Mam, ur lectures are good. There are some imp details missing like Ursula comes back who went in search of her son brought foreigners. One of the foerigners eat banana which leads to banana plantation. Later leads to colonialisation. It leads to banana massacre. Which can be compared to jallianwala bagh.
