I love this version cause you actually get the intent of the lyrics instead of thinking it’s a happy giddy song.
@hypotheticaltapeworm2 жыл бұрын
But it *is* a giddy song. It's celebrating the shift from unhappy marriages to relationships where people are in love and physically satisfied without feeling they need to get married. "My baby don't mess around because she loves me so, and this I know for sure" This means he's confident in their relationship and feelings for each other, this is completely in earnest and not ironic. "Thank God for Mom and Dad for sticking two together, cause we don't know how" This is saying that previous generations were like guinea pigs, getting married without being in love so the future generations can adapt by *not* doing that. Thanks mom and dad, you don't love each other, so I'll make sure I'll have a relationship where my partner and I do! "Don't want to meet your daddy, just want you in my caddy, don't want to meet you momma, just wanna make you cum-a" and "sex is always better when there's feelings involved" Exactly as it sounds. People are having sex because it feels good, and they enjoy their feelings for each other, but that doesn't mean he wants to commit and meet the parents just yet. Not getting their blessings to marry their daughter, no. Just feelings and sex for now. The lyric "she live in my lap, but who lives in my heart?" appears to be original to this cover and has a melancholy mood the original never was going for.

[Verse 1] My baby don't mess around Because she loves me so And this I know for sure But does she really want it But can't stand to see me Walk out the door? Don't try to fight the feeling Cause the thought alone is killing me right now Thank God for Mom and Dad For sticking through together Cause we don't know how [Hook] Hey ya! Hey ya! Hey ya! Hey ya! [Verse 2] You think you've got it Oh, you think you've got it But "got it" just don't get it When there's nothing at all We get together Oh, we get together But sex is always better When there's feelings involved If what they say is "Nothing is forever" Then what makes, what makes, what makes What makes, what makes, what makes love the exception? So why you why you, why you why you why you Are we so in denial If you know we're not happy here? (Ya'll don't give a damn, ya'll just wanna dance) Yebo! [Hook] [Bridge] She lives in my lap But who lives in my heart? Who lives in? Who's in love? Who survives? Who's in love? [Verse 3] (YEBO!) We rose like a rose from the stone Under fluorescent light Love like glass in the water And we thought it was it was ice Cold like earth when it froze Unforgiven, forgive it for it was dead from the go We kissed under the vultures, confused it for Mistletoe We jumped into the ocean without learning how to float [Outro] (Who survives? Who's in love?)
