The Plains Camp males have all but taken over the Nkuhuma pride. The 3 adult lionesses have accepted them and some even show signs of pregnancy. Only one female is not with them and spends a lot of time with the sub-adult group.

We should use Google Docs so that a group of us can add the info and keep it up to date! Then we could share it with others, but not allow others to edit. I love seeing data all in one place and do this regularly with other subjects.

It's true, he runs every time, but considering all he has been through and lost, I understand. He is traumatized. It's unfair for him to partner up with another lion though because they are supposed to be able to depend on each other in a fight. So he sort of misleads the other lion, although not consciously. I do feel bad for the lions he has hung out to dry in a fight. 😢

Thank you as always for an awesome video Scar! Sometimes these lions get so worked up that they can't tell friend from foe and attack the wrong lion. It's REALLY hard to watch. I know lions aren't exactly the same, but I've seen this happen with domestic cats also. It may be scent confusion since another lion is right next to their coalition partner/brother. I feel so bad for the Kambula male who was so visciously attacked by his own brother. I'm so thankful for the lioness that interrupted that eventually!

Useful summary here! Nkuhuma has enough experience by now to prefer to live without risking crippling injuries--Solo Tsalala was probably that way, too, though he definitely had the size to fight. Maybe Nkuhuma will get a permanent/long-term partner from all of this. There are now 4 loose males in Sabi Sands who could form a quartet and have lots of girlfriends, IF they were willing to fight a bit more, and STICK TOGETHER.

Red Road is a very tough single Lion but the GOAT of male Lions is Sekekama💯
@davidframe1613
@davidframe1613 Ай бұрын
Sekekama had a brother named torn nose. Red road is a single male by himself. If you're doing just any male lion i would say Mr t in his prime from the mapogas would probably be hard to beat because when he was in his prime his five brothers were scared of him he was nuts. Complete confidence actually probably passed confidence to arrogance and kept it to the day he died as his brother's ran off.

1:19 "No injuries" means me or you would stay in bed for a month at least... I hoped you have had more insights about RR/Nharu vs Kambula boys. How did the fight unfolded? How Nharu did females help Red Road? RR is a great warrior, but this battle was very special, on paper 1 vs 4, but in reality 4 vs RR and his wives. What moves have they done to overpower Kambulas? RR is a champion of 1vs1 and not to mess up 1vs2, but nobody wins 1 vs 4. I'm very curious about the Nharu females' role in the battle and overall "game play". Kambula K4 (?) got some serious beating, I hope he will recover well.
@davidframe1613
@davidframe1613 Ай бұрын
You're completely right but when you go one on four someone has to go first to fight Red road. Takes a lot of confidence to run into something like that head first and hope your Three Brothers don't turn tail and run and Red road eats you up. 😁 Not even the great S8 could whip Red road he found out the hard way also. But Red road is getting old.
@_Kylix_
@_Kylix_ Ай бұрын
the fight started after the kambulas showed up to drink in the same pond as RR and the Nharu pride, than its what you see in the videos, and after the video it was reported that K6 chased RR ( an already tired and outnumbered RR), it was K5 who got pinned by red road and K4 the one who attacked his brother in the middle of the confusion

Hmm. If you remember the Secretariat story. After Secretariat passed away, they did an autopsy on him and found out his heart was twice the size of the regular race horses. Thus why he was so strong and spectacular. I suspect Red Road has something like this going on with him. In anything, it’s always about the breathing. Strong breathing capacity makes you even stronger. Especially fighting.

Lion politics in that area is pretty complicated. For the females it’s a matter of France race the offspring and not get them killed by every Tom Dick and Harry.. it’s interesting up the males who were in the prime and have territories and have neighbours of a similar status don’t get involved in real Barnies but once you are not in their prime seem to have runs with the established males all the time.
