No, he started 3 years earlier, in 1971 with Genshi Shounen Ryuu. In 1972 Choujin Barom 1, Henshin Ninja Arashi, Astroganga and Mazinger Z. in 1973 Babil Nisei and Robot Keiji. Kamen Rider X is from 1974 (as Great Mazinger and Ganbare Robocon).

I still prefer his SET UP henshin sequence better than his powered up DAI HENSHIN sequence, just more nostalgic(I mean, it’s IN THE THEME SONG, HELLO!!!). I’m glad they brought SET UP back as his henshin method in Kamen Rider Taisen in addition to bringing back the guy, an icing on an already delicious cake.

You’re just mistaking what was common for the time as being abnormal. In media at the time, both Eastern and Western television were really trying to tackle hard truths and uncomfortable subjects about the world we lived in. It was really about embracing the darkness and sadness, the cruelty of life and the human experience. It wasn’t to be dark or gritty or sad, but to be truthful, closer to “real”. Even wacky science fiction and fantasy properties weren’t exempt from it.

Finalmente o X-Rider chegou! Os soldados de GOD são os mais estilosos da franquia 🤣🤣🤣. Claramente os produtores já davam sinais de saturação copiando elementos de outras séries (o conceito de GOD como uma organização formada por inimigos do Japão é bem parecido com a Shine Shine Dan do Rainbowman da Toho). Pena que não emplacou pois algumas ideias como uma moto subaquática e um “morfador” pra colocar a máscara estavam meio à frente do seu tempo... SET UP!

X, Amazon & Stronger are among the shortest series in the franchise, none of them making it to 40 episodes. Which I consider kind of a blessing as they didn't have to drag it out. As someone who watched all 98 episodes of the original series, although it's a classic, it just gets so damn repetitive. A majority of the episodes usually consisted of: scientists invents something, Shocker wants the invention, they take scientist's loved one (usually a child) hostage, promised to return them if scientist does what they want and they always go back on their word. Rider's allies get captured or mind controlled, or something happens to the Rider that makes everyone think he's dead. It makes it kind of a slog to get through when they repeat things over and over again.
