this was one of my absolute favorite Fall 2016 songs--I loved it the moment I heard it--and I've always loved Danganronpa (HINTHINT PLAY THE GAME) because who doesn't love a story about kids murdering each other? :') so of course I had to cover this song.

"Kami-Iro Awase" roughly translates to "Matching the Color of God", and given the context of the OP, I think the "God" referenced in the title is Junko. The first verse is from Junko's perspective, talking about how bored of the world she is, and saying that the darkness is coming, while the second verse is from either Class 77-B as a whole, or Izuru Kamukura, lost in the chaos of the Tragedy and realizing the paper-thin line between Despair and Hope, and looking to Junko for guidance ("The darkness is calling, and hand in hand you will follow." VS "Please God, won't you guide me? Please take my hand and I'll follow") The title is also represented in the visual changes the OP undergoes. The most prominent ones are the color-pallete shift and Hajime fading away to be replaced by Izuru, but a more sublte one you might not have noticed is that all of Class 77-B's (Except Chiaki's) eyes turn to red in the final variation of the OP, representing their fall into Despair. They're quite literally matching the color of their new God, Junko, who also has red eyes in that version of the OP. Dead or Lie is still the better song IMO, but Kami-Iro Awase has some fantastic and significant lyrics.

I think it's more like Junko singing to Izuru telling him to embrace Despair, at least for the first verse. The second is Izuru conflicted between Hope and Despair, and begging for guidance, and then it goes back to Junko with the "This world never loved us" part.

I'm sort of mixed when it comes to hating her. I like her design and I think she's a good villain. But at the same time I do hate her, for what she did to all the characters I love (Chisa and Mukuro). And even though I don't like Chiaki (sorry if I spelt her name wrong) I do agree that she didn't deserve it.

Most english covers are like that Usually direct translations dont have a good flow or sound in english since the words have a different amount of syllables, different lengths, and alternate sounds from how the word sounds in Japanese, so its up to the person making the cover to swap out some of the lines to make it sound good in english. And then some cover artists change the lyrics entirely, keeping the tone of the original song but creating it in a different way. Usually when ive seen direct-translation covers they suck because the singer has to draw out some words or speed through others, and iconic sounds from the original are changed because of how the word sounds in english Tldr: thats normal for covers
