I enjoy listening to Mike talking about his music as much as his music itself

Funny how he sold all his gear for a song (little money), and now there's a trend to master through analogue mixers back to tape and then back into what ever format is required. This is a super interview. Thanks.

He’s not good with money.

Mike could see what was unfolding. The golden era for musicians was over. I interviewed Mike's brother, Terry, and he came to the exact same conclusions. People don't see the investment given to music & film creation. Most sadly look for free downloads. We have amazing tech to create, and equally amazing tech to take.

Always interesting to hear Mike's interviews. He's not the kind of talkative guy, usually :-) , Thanks.

Nice to hear him talk about his work! Has anyone ever found interviews where he discussed the popular songs such as Moonlight Shadow and To France? I'd be curous to hear how those came to be after work such as Tubular Bells.
I think the Warner stuff gets more electronic from TB2 onwards and sounds like background music. This album has some nice things on Light, but Shade didn’t grab me. It’s like a load of demos and musically it’s stuff Mike could write in his sleep. Predictable.

Agreed, only 'Music of the spheres' has grabbed me, from his later stuff. Even return to Ommadawn was a bit of a let down. I think the problem for me, is that when he worked less with editing technology, (earlier albums), he had to blend the parts smoothly together, it all just flowed. Now, his instrumental parts seem to butt against each other, with sudden changes, as if just cut and pasted into place.

Humans are best written (archived, stored) as music. Mikes programs or “apps for the brain” are pretty good.

Funny, I have always thought this was the least M.O sounding album due to its samples.

I ask myself : Why is the Musik today so shitty??? The Songs today have no Spirits or a Earworm Melodie. Ist's only Fastfoodmusik in the Mainstream- terrible
