Resetting Hoverboard battery with paper clip, No voltmeter needed!

Reset does not always work. If it fails to start charging after several attempts, the battery is clearly due for replacement. You can eventually try to charge it by bypassing the balancer as I stated in the video, but this is risky. You do the attempts at your own risk.
Connecting the circuits on the negative pole in a short way, as shown in the video, bypasses the balancer module briefly and excites it to power.
The positive wire (red) is permanently soldered to the positive terminal in series connection of the battery pack. In the other hand, the negative wire(black) is distributes voltage through the balancer to each cell separately, bypassing it briefly can cause a reset and help induce charging.

This worked for me. I was hesitant, but I took the battery out of its case, plugged it back into its plug from inside the hoverboard. Plugged the charger into the board, then used the jumper wire. It turned the light from green to red and then I left it plugged in for 3 hours. It fully charged. Note, I had the charger plugged into a ground fault plug for extra protection since I was using a jumper. Also, the battery voltage to start was 16v.

Thank you for this. I'm charging mine now after doing this. I did it with the pack connected through the board and the charger connected to the board. ( I also connected the charger straight to the pack * Pin1 pos. Pin 2 neg.*as you did to make sure the flashing of the charger that I began to see was not caused by my setup) as a note of observation, my charger did begin to flash faint red, then faint red/ green, then finally solid red after the packs voltage reached its minimum 32v.

Thank you, you saved me from buying a new battery. I haven’t used the Jetson hover board for over year (voltage dropped to 3.6v). The charger always showed green but it never charged it. Shorting did the trick. After shorting it started charging (adapter indicator turned red) hope it charges fully.

Question… I reset my battery like you illustrated. The charger’s red light came on but would turn to green as soon as I removed the jumper. Is this an indicator of a bad battery or batteries or bad board. Can anyone help.

Will this work with a hoverboard that only turns on when the charger is connected? When i unplug the charger the whole thing cuts out
