Yes, she does! She's stated that using the rippon helps keep her axis stable, otherwise, she's always off. Apparently, she tried for quite a while to land these jumps and only started being more consistent once she added the rippon.

Not really, it depends on the skater. For some, rippon makes the jump harder, for others it makes it easier. For Kamila It really helps her keep her axis stable

Axis has improved, but she's constantly prerotated (1/4 to 1/2) and always the assisted leg uses more then just the pick for the Toe... more often then not it's the full blade. And even with these plus the inside edge on the landing she scores 3 in GOE. That ain't right.

I think after she started adding rippon to her 4T her axis has improved but she still lands with inside edge. I like rippon but in her case, it's just too much. Now she jumps with rippon for all her jumps. Maybe it works for her to keep her body straight but some variety would be appreciated i.e. mix it up with tano or no arms over the head.

In an interview she told rippon is harder that's why she prefers rippon. She just likes difficulties and challenges.

Shes going to eventually really hurt herself with her jump technique. If the axis is wrong, then the technique is not right, so by adding the rippon its only fixing the axis issue and not her technique.

С риппоном лучше однозначно! С её бесконечно длинными ногами вытянутые руки балансируют центр тяжести, не давая заваливать ось. А визуально прыжок от поднятых рук только выиграл - все тело вытянуто в красивую ровную линию во время вращения. Сейчас, когда она уже в пубертате, но, видимо, рост более-менее стабилизировался, её 4Т стал просто великолепным: ось, наконец, стабильна, никакого перекоса, длинные ноги позволяют хорошо и очень высоко оттолкнуться, чтобы успеть прокрутить все обороты, выезды - произведение искусства!

That's what I thought too! It's like going for the hardest part without mastering the basics or the foundation first. This happens among Japanese ballet dancers as well. They learn en pointe almost immediately without building the technique necessary at first. That's why Eteri's skaters lose their technique b4 they reach 18

Quads are just the right evolution of the sport. Once you can’t beat the best triple jump program with triples, you have to upgrade your arsenal. Russians girls develop faster due to a fiercer competition and higher pace, not because they skip steps.

Makes sense. But I do recall Scott Hamilton try to explain how much harder it was to jump with your hands or hand in the air at the Pyeong Chang Olympics when analyzing Medvedeva’s jumps and why they used to award bonus GOE because of that. What you say makes sense, then why aren’t the rest of the skaters using that technique for their triple/quad attempts? Karen Chen or Jason Brown would benefit from that in getting their slow rotating jumps around.

Random q not aimed specifically at Valieva: I noticed sometimes skaters "reload" in combinations by adjusting their knee height between jumps, which Valieva does too. Is that correct/ are there rules against that?

i believe those are called power pulls. it’s not correct, bc jumps in combination shouldn’t have a “rest” period to gain speed in between and jump again. it would be a deduced goe at best but ISU refuses to call many mistakes, and this is one of them

valieva also has a bad habit of landing jumps on a slight inside edge which makes reloading necessary to jump again

A lot of skaters reload but it's definitely needed when the first jump in the combo is wonky. For example, kaori sakomoto doesn't need much reload because she has a lot of landing speed out of the first jump. I think reload is only a problem when it interrupts flow or has a major edge change. Most people do the same reload movement as valieva but they're able to control the edge so it doesn't blurb too much

yes. -5 means -50% of base value tho, not literally -5. So if the base value of a jump is for example 8, a -5 GOE will be -4 points, if a jump is worth 7.5, -5 GOE is -3.75 points.

За падение снимается половина стоимости прыжка) А гое это вообще коэффициент, например идеальный дупель на +5 от судей не прибавляет 5 баллов, обычно это балла 1,5. Потому что сам прыжок дешевый, а если каскад стоит 12, а надбавку вы видите 4, то значит средние гое были в районе трех. Имеет значение сложный заход на прыжок, выезд, в музыку или нет, высота, пролетность, мягкость приземления, до этого года ставили надбавку за риппон, это прыжок с руками на верх, падения бывают разные, степаут, одна рука, две, на попу итд ... Изучайте вопрос, а не просто, я таких баллов не видела) А вы видели где-нибудь как у Камилы выезд в вертикальный шпагат?!) От этого зависят гое в том числе.
