Kamille’s wish to have a hydrotherapy pool came true!
When wish kid Kamille was born, her doctors told her parents that she probably wouldn’t make it through the night. She was born with a rare genetic disorder that affects her joint and muscle movements and requires her to be in a wheelchair. Kamille surprised everyone when she not only made it through the night, but was able to leave the hospital at only two-months-old.
In order for her to strengthen her muscles, Kamille attended physical therapy on both land and in the water. She loved the freedom she felt when she was in the water and could move without the restrictions of her condition. Eric, Kamille’s dad, explains that Kamille’s whole attitude changes when she’s in the water and she’s able to be so much more independent. During one of her sessions, her physical therapist brought up Make-A-Wish®. Like many families, Kamille’s parents believed Make-A-Wish was only for children with terminal conditions. They had no idea that Kamille would qualify for a wish and were excited to begin the process.
During Kamille’s therapy sessions, she envisioned all the incredible things she could do with her wish. She finally decided having her own hydrotherapy pool would be the best wish because it would last for years to come. She couldn’t believe her eyes the day her wish was granted, her face lit up in surprise and excitement when she saw her pool. Having a pool at her house gives Kamille the opportunity to swim and practice her therapy exercises more frequently. Now she can’t wait for the weekend so she can spend hours in the pool with her family and friends.
