Hi Jerry, completed my Blackmoor Vail early this year! The model belonged to a very good friend who passed away and I brought this as remembrance of him! Sounds work really well! I put my decoder and speaker in the tender! WAMGOC

Given the age, it is a great model. They knew what the were doing in those days! It is always good to have a memory with certain things. I have with a couple of locos too. Thanks and best. Jerry

A very nice job you made of that. I am not a fan of Southern Railways, but it was still good to watch the videos. Martin (Dhaka, Bangladesh.)

Nor was I Martin but have been slowly sucked in by them and I now have a few for the SR Region which has surprised me. Always wanted this odd shaped loco with those wheels! Cheers Jerry

Very Cool Jerry ! I Like the passing whistle...ooohh it brakes too, that's new. Thanks for sharing. greetings, Filip
@jerryallen345 жыл бұрын
Gday Filip, yes that passing whistle is the best! The slow running beat is also ver different from other steam locos I have heard. Thanks and take care, Jerry

Hi Jerry, just to clarify, your loco is a West Country Class, named after towns and places in the West Country. They are similar in design to the Battle of Briittain Class and both these classes were smaller than the later built Merchant Navy Class. I have a WC class named Wadebridge in the same livery which is Malachite Green, pronounced Mal a kite. All my locos are analogue dc as I just can't afford to go DCC and that is that. But it was interesting to see how you managed to convert yours and actuaaly get the speaker inside the loco body as well. It sounds absolutely great Jerry and like you say, they really are a nice looking loco. You can see how they got the name of Spam Cans. Cheers for now..................Geoff

The first Merchant Navy emerged in March 1941 from Eastleigh Works the first West Country In July 1945 from Brighton. They are hard to tell apart. If named then the Merchant Navy plates are distinctive. Very interesting video

TRAM JUNCTION Hi Geoff. Many thanks for the follow information and correct pronunciation that’s appreciated. It is big money dcc there is no doubt about it and on top of that when you blow a chip it’s not a great experience. I love the wheels too, so different. May thanks for commenting and I look forward to more from Tram Junction. Best. Jerry

Hi Jerry a great job there as she sounds and looks good even if the light was poor. The Jerry Allen bad luck with locos seems to have gone but I think it may have made it's way to Kent. Now that I have the wiring sorted I am running in my locos. Two from the same order from Rails of Sheffield failed !! One was a Hornby rail road TTS Flying Scotsman where a connecting rod jammed which is apparently a known problem. The other was a Rail Road Class 59 that ran with great bunny hops then stopped altogether. I must say that ROS were excellent in dealing with it and sent a return label whilst I was on the phone . The Scotsman came back today so hopefully that is now ok. Cheers Kev
@jerryallen345 жыл бұрын
Well Kev, I certainly hope I have not passed the baton onto you! I am sorry to hear of this but as always, not surprised. QC is still appalling and model railway companies seem to get away with it. RoS are very good as are others but they must waste alot of money trying to sort things out. Hope all is sorted now, Cheers Jerry

Hi Jerry- I cant think of another industry where you can send out goods that are known to have issues and it is taken as the norm !! I hope this is just a one off but I am prepared for more repeats. I will give the Flying Scotsman a run this afternoon and I await the return of the 59 .. Cheers Kev

Hi Jerry , love the surprise with you when it actually works first time . Great looking and sounding loco added to your rolling stock at Kampala Rd , hope the new whistle doesn't upset Paxo too much . Cheers......Peter

I was indeed surprised it all went well first time Peter! For a 16 year old loco it is a great result. Many thanks for watching, Jerry

Hi Jerry. Great video I am thinking of hard wiring some of my old Hornby locos but like you my soldering skills are not great so I’m very tentative. Will just have to give it a go and see what happens. Cheers Steve

Well done. Inspiring stuff. I may even have another go at TTS fitting the A3, Merchant Navy and Duchess currently in my 'failed at stage 17' department. It is only my hard wired TTS locos which failed, so perhaps my tender wire connections, despite all precautions, were incorrect.
@jerryallen345 жыл бұрын
Be very careful re the tender wiring, get that wrong and the chip goes up in smoke as TTS are very fragile! I know! But yes give it a go, very simple and everything works. Best. Jerry

I dont know if this of use to you but i blocked off the steam funnel in side with black tack.this made the body into a boom box,this made the bass of the speaker far deeper-more life like..regards Paul.
@jerryallen345 жыл бұрын
Haha, that is a good idea and agree it is probably the square box shape that does so much for the sound! I may change the speaker in the near future. Many thanks for watching, Jerry

Hi Jerry, can anything be done to better-synchronise the 'chuffs' - should be 6 / revolution, which should speed up as the locomotive does? This is my 'gripe' with sound on kettles. Al.
@jerryallen345 жыл бұрын
Alan Toms You have mentioned this before Al and on TTS I don’t think there is from what I have read and seen. Not sure how you get over this issue. I does stand out on this model more for some reason or it may be me just more aware ! Cheers Jerry
@alantoms32635 жыл бұрын
Sorry for that. I thought I had read somewhere that the 'chuff frequency' could be adjusted - might be worthwhile verifying. Mightn't be that important to you / can accept it. Al.

Hi Jerry, What a very interesting video and thank you for showing us how easy it is to do, the loco looks stunning and your filming was super the light was not a problem and it sounded great, one thing as you cut the funnel down inside did you do anything to stop seeing down inside or did you think that the hole let more sound out and left it as it was. Cheers Robert.
@jerryallen345 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, I left the chimney open for the moment for the reason you mention, sound. It does sound good so may leave it. The view is not too bad. Thank you for the kind comments and happy you liked it. Best. Jerry
