many famous people in showbiz are from gopeng and kampar. adibah noor (late), KRU, raihan (nasyid group), sheila rusly and azman yahaya (director couple of malay dramas), lat and mamat khalid (famous brothers a cartoonist and a filmmaker), low ngai yuen (theatre producer and tv host), linda hashim (actress), shahir zawawi (singer, nephew of adibah). both kampar and gopeng are ruled by the mayor of kampar. my father's family is from kampar.

The claypot chicken rice you had don't have char siu in it, it is lap cheong & the 'white chicken' claypot rice you mentioned is basically steamed marinated chicken rice, called 蒸鸡 (steamed chicken, jing gai in cantonese. This is how locals calls it). The shop you patronized is Chan Siew Heng & NOT Chan Siew.
